John Williams Recording Score for Galaxy’s Edge Parks, First Look at Rides, Blue Milk Confirmed, and More!

Galaxy's Edge

Our first chance to visit a galaxy far, far away is growing near and new details are rolling in on the upcoming Galaxy’s Edge parks at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios at Disney World. EW originally shared some of the latest updates, but now the official site has the latest news, like John Williams (!!!) is recording the score for the park, and videos reveal what we’ll get up to on the two rides at Galaxy’s Edge aka Black Spire Outpost, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance. Head below the cut for more!

It might be a minor thing, but having John Williams recording the score for your time at Galaxy’s Edge is an amazing, exciting development, especially considering he’s been rumored to be done scoring Star Wars after Ep. IX. It sounds great, as one would expect, conveying both an epic feel and adventurous jaunt which should help propel you around the park. Give it a listen yourself, and enjoy the construction footage along with it!

This video for the Millennium Falcon ride doesn’t reveal too much, but the official site does say quests will take part in this ride through three different fight crew roles, making you want to come back for more to see what it’s like from one of the other roles. If I’m not the one banging a wrench against the interior of the hull, screaming at L3-37 and the Falcon‘s other droid brains, then I don’t care what the other roles get to do.

Rise of the Resistance’s video actually has some cool footage of what it looks like from the inside of the ride, including actors playing First Order parts and MSE droids scuttling about the scenery. It supposedly puts you, “…in the middle of an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order.”

There will be plenty of other things to do in the park besides these rides, especially considering its many dynamic elements that will see you being hunted by bounty hunters and other fun shenanigans to uncover. Also mentioned are visits to, “…a street market in Black Spire Outpost, [where you] shop at food stalls where you can enjoy delicacies like blue milk, or visit the Cantina where you can see an old friend, Rex [the original captain of the Star Tours ride], as well as creatures and characters that are hallmarks of the Star Wars universe.” They also discussed the immersive hotel experience, where you’ll basically be part of the Star Wars universe the moment you step through security at its entrance. Some sleuths found a construction permit (via California Coaster Kings) for the park which reveal it’ll only have 68 rooms, which I imagine means the wait list will be insane and the price will be out of this world…fitting, that last part is at least.

Rise of the Resistance

Galaxy’s Edge will be open for your own personal Star Wars adventures at Disneyland in Spring 2019, while Disney World’s will be in Fall 2019.
