Star Wars Celebration Anaheim Gets Rebels Season 2 Premiere, Prequels in 3D

3D Absolutes

Star Wars Celebration Anaheim attendees this year will have a lot to look forward to in terms of The Force Awakens content (or so I speculate) but we can’t forget about the rest of the saga. Already news about events coming to April’s big show are dropping, including 3D screenings of the prequel trilogy (first spotted by Yakface) and the premiere of Star Wars Rebels’ second season!

While The Phantom Menace 3D had a wide release, which I actually went to and wasn’t completely impressed by minus the podracing scene, the rest of the 3D prequels were put on hiatus after the Disney buyout of Lucasfilm. Many have since wondered if AotC and maybe eventually Revenge of the Sith would be released for more fans to see. Now not only will both TPM and AotC be shown at Celebration, but so too will Revenge of the Sith 3D for the very first time was shown. I’m not completely thrilled about 3D after the disappointing attempt on TPM, but if they improved the transfer to 3D, then I might start to get a little excited. And to be honest, I’m dying to see the opening battle over Coruscant and the climatic duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin (we’ll be dodging lava in the crowd!) in 3D for RotS, so I’ll be at all the screenings if time allows it in April no matter my feelings on the format. Looking forward to seeing you there if you can make it too!

Hera Wishes the Team LuckBut that’s not all! I’ve been a pretty big fan of Star Wars Rebels since it premiered in October 2014, so I’m excited to see where this show is going with it’s impressive characters, the Fulcrum mystery, and how it’ll connect into the larger Rebel Alliance. As the press release on the SW Celebration site states, it seems the first season will end with a two part episode, which will be reaired before the showing of the second season premiere, while promising a panel featuring the show’s stars will be discussing the “…startling season one finale…” and showing more hints at what’s to come. Fans of Rebels will have their hands full and I’ll be trying to attended this one as well.

Stay tuned for more Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2015 updates as they come.
