The Clone Wars Season Seven Review: “Gone with a Trace”

The Clone Wars S7 Gone With a Trace

Spoiler Review –

“Gone with a Trace” brings The Clone Wars‘ seventh and final season into the Coruscant Underworld, but all isn’t grim as it also means the return of the one, the only, Ahsoka Tano! By the end of the episode, despite my excitement on seeing her in TCW again, I found myself more intrigued by a pair of sisters who quickly steal the spotlight.

D23 2019: The Mandalorian Trailer Arrives, Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Announced, and The Clone Wars Set for February 2020

At the D23 Disney+ panel, not only did the above intense first trailer for The Mandalorian arrive, but Ewan McGregor came out to confirm he’s back for an Obi-Wan Kenobi series (!!), and The Clone Wars‘ return was announced for February 2020. They also talked about the Cassian Andor series, though not a lot of details were given for any of the upcoming shows, but head below for what little we did get. The Clone Wars Returns Panel (SWCC 2019)

One of the best things about the upcoming Disney+ revival of The Clone Wars is finally seeing unproduced content Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo have been teasing over the past few years come to life on the screen: Anakin granting Ahsoka her own battalion; Ahsoka adjusting to life without the Jedi Order and down in the Coruscant underworld; more of Clone Force 99; and of course the Siege of Mandalore. While it’ll only be 12 episodes, the trailer above sure makes it look like it’ll be 12 episodes of pure TCW adrenaline. You can find the trailer at the 52:18 mark in the video above, while below I go over what we learned about some of this content at prior conventions. Book Review: Women of the Galaxy

Women of the Galaxy

Women of the Galaxy, authored by Amy Ratcliffe, showcases 75 women from the galaxy far, far way, and while her prose is important, the over 100 new illustrations from 18 different female and non-binary artists is a stunning collection, making this a must own for anyone and any fan across the gender spectrum. SDCC 2018: The Clone Wars Returns, Coming to Disney’s Streaming Service

The wealth of content left unseen from the team behind the The Clone Wars series has been the stuff of legends for years, with The Clone Wars Legacy trickling out small doses of unproduced content in the form of incomplete episodes and novels. In the last few Celebrations, there have been peaks at what they had planned for the show from the likes of Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo, showing off concept art and clips from more unproduced episodes. Recently, Star Wars Rebels picked up with some of the show’s characters years later, offering some sense of closure to their story or starting their next chapter. But now the wait for more of the still unproduced content is over, as brand new episodes surrounding the events of “The Siege of Mandalore” are coming to a small screen near you via Disney’s upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service (Disney+)!!!! Check out the amazing teaser above and below you’ll not only find a video of the panel in its entirety, but I’ll discuss what we’ve already learned about the “Siege” storyline, as well as look at what content they teased in the past (Ahsoka’s first boyfriend, Boba’s rise in the bounty hunter ranks, a trip to Kashyyyk with the Bad Batch, and….the Yuuzhan Vong !?!). Forces of Destiny Fight Gorax, Save Art, and Help Porgs in Second Half of Season Two

Forces of Destiny A Disarming Lesson 5

As a special Star Wars Day 2018 present, the second half of episodes from Forces of Destiny‘s second season have arrived (announced the day before). Since there are usually eight, and this time only seven dropped, the remaining episode might be hiding in the TV special airing May 25 aka the same day as that little indie movie Solo: A Star Wars Story hits our galaxy, so maybe there’s a Qi’ra and Han episode on the way? In the meantime, check out the newest episodes below, along with a few quick thoughts. Full review of the second season to follow the TV special. Star Wars Rebels Series Finale Review: “A Fool’s Hope” & “Family Reunion – and Farewell”

Star Wars Rebels Series Finale Goodbye for NowBack when Star Wars Rebels was first announced in May of 2013, I was still writing for the fansite Knights’ Archive, which is where I started covering the show once the character announcements began in early 2014. That site closed its doors only a few months later in May and I opened the Manor in June, anxious to continue covering the show here as my excitement for the series grew. Fast forward to March 5, 2018, and after four seasons, Rebels airs its final episodes, ending an era for both Lucasfilm Animation and for the site as well. Considering how Rebels has been a vital part of the Manor’s content since I started the site, as I sit here hashing out my finale review, it’s been crazy to think how far both the show and this site have come since then. While I’m sure we’ll talk about Rebels in the future through think-pieces and various, numerous connections other material will make to it in the years ahead, this is the last review I’ll ever write for an episode of the series and, most importantly, I’m happy to have shared this journey with you, my fellow fans! But enough waxing poetic, let’s get into the series finale review, shall we?!? With “A Fool’s Hope” & “Family Reunion – and Farewell,” Star Wars Rebels has crafted an unforgettable finale, closing off the show in exciting, well-earned ways, while setting up for the next chapter with so many surprises my head is still spinning. Dive below for the spoilers, because there is PLENTY to talk about!

Forces of Destiny Puts Ahsoka Tano on “The Padawan Path”

Having started with Rey, visited with Leia, and now bringing Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein, of course!) back to the little screen during the Clone Wars, Forces of Destiny is taking us slowly back in time and I’m happy to see it’ll jump wherever it wants to in the timeline. In “The Padawan Path,” Ahsoka, pre-leaving the Jedi Order, gets caught up with saving citizens while on her way to a special Jedi ceremony with Anakin and Yoda. Her little fight with the out of control droid highlights her ingenuity and willingness to help others, no matter the circumstances (and a great lesson for anyone to learn). While Anakin’s character model felt a bit off, Matt Lanter back voicing him made the point moot…so great to hear these two together again! Out of all the episodes so far, “The Padawan Path” is the most bittersweet, considering how and why she ends up giving the braid she receives here back to the Jedi before leaving, as well as what happens between Master and Apprentice on a little planet called Malachor (which Dave Filoni just exploded the head’s of Ahsoka fans about with this tweet regarding a meeting between her and the in-the-middle Bendu. Whoa). Continue reading “Forces of Destiny Puts Ahsoka Tano on “The Padawan Path””

Canon Young Adult Novel Review: Ahsoka

Ahsoka novel

Spoiler Review –

Ahsoka, by E.K. Johnston, is a YA novel that sheds a little light on the fan favorite eponymous character’s life post-The Clone Wars, pre-Star Wars Rebels. Johnston captures reader engagement with an excellent portrayal of Ahsoka Tano, dream character meetings, and a small focus, though that focus, the book’s pacing, and some questionable compositional choices do hinder the overall experience. Overall, Ahsoka fans or people looking for a quick and fun Star Wars book shouldn’t be deterred though, as there is still plenty to enjoy despite the flaws.
