Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader – Black, White & Red #3 & #4

Darth Vader Black White Red 3 review mynockmanor

– Spoiler Review –

After not quite proving itself necessary or distinct, with stories often feeling much the same to showcase the titular Sith Lord’s might, I took a break and decided to review the final two issues of Darth Vader: Black, White & Red together, as one thing was clear after it ended: while the art was often great and outstanding, more Vader was not what we or this series needed. Mynock Manor Suggests: Captain Phasma Expanded Content

Mynock Manor Suggests Captain Phasma Expanded Content 1

Staying at hotels, B&Bs, and even Airbnb’s there are often concierge services available about what to see and do in the area you’re visiting, so we’ve opened the concierge desk at the Manor to offer suggestions on what to read, watch, and enjoy when wanting to find out more about your favorite Star Wars characters now that you have the free time to do so! Every once in a while, a character appears in a Star Wars film, full of intrigue and promise of future stories, deep lore, and expansive adventures. One such character was Captain Phasma, first introduced in the teaser trailer for The Force Awakens. With chrome armor and a long cape, Phasma gained the attention and excitement of fans across the galaxy. Unfortunately, she had only a scant few minutes of screen time in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi before being bested by Finn. Eager to learn more about the “Chrome Dome”? Read on! Canon Comic Miniseries Review: Target Vader

Target Vader Miniseries Review

– Spoiler Review –

Target Vader sends a Legends resurrection, and few extra bounty hunters for good measure, to track down and kill Darth Vader, but for those not attached to the blast from the past, is there enjoyment to be had in Beilert Valance’s canon tale of revenge? Canon Comic Miniseries Review: Age of Rebellion

Age of Rebellion Miniseries Review 2

Age of Rebellion is the middle “Age” of the Age of Star Wars maxiseries, but having to follow in the footsteps of Houser and team’s Republic seemed like a difficult job. Greg Pak, a few other writers, and the various artists along for the ride delved into the latest “Age” with aplomb, and while most of it was simply good, it’s highs were quite the zenith. Canon Comic Review: Target Vader #1

Target Vader #1

Target Vader finds a group of bounty hunters, one from Legends past, out to take down, you guessed it, Darth Vader himself. With issue #1, this latest Vader-focused series might be playing a bit too much into the nostalgia factor with a Legends resurrection and can’t quite avoid making readers ask “why more Vader,” but it does have some intriguing mysteries I might want to see solved. In the interest of time, I’m only reviewing the first issue, but will return to review the whole miniseries once it’s completed later this year. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Target Vader #1”

Lando Double or Nothing #5

– Spoiler Review –

Lando – Double or Nothing issue #5 doesn’t save the series, but it brings it to a respectful end. Head below for what I’m now also considering the full miniseries review. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Lando – Double or Nothing #5 / Miniseries Review (UPDATED)”

Canon Comic Review: Lando – Double or Nothing #4

Lando Double or Nothing #4

– Spoiler Review –

Lando – Double or Nothing issue #4 once again shows how this miniseries struggles to captivate or pull off a completely satisfying characterization of it’s smooth, suave lead. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Lando – Double or Nothing #4”

Canon Comic Review: Lando – Double or Nothing #2

Lando Double or Nothing #2

– Spoiler Review –

Lando – Double or Nothing #2 retains the fun and pace of the opening issue, but it makes Lando talk a little too much, something I never thought I’d hear myself say/see myself write. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Lando – Double or Nothing #2”
