Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #19

Poe Dameron #19

– Spoiler Review –

Poe Dameron #19 delivers quite the poignant, exciting end to the “War Stories” arc, wrapping up the pursuit of ex-Black Squadron member Oddy Muva and providing the first inklings of Terex’s resurgence. All in all, one of the series’ best issues! Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #19”

Poe Dameron #18

– Spoiler Review –

The boys of Black Squadron on the hunt for a traitor, the gals on the hunt for a story to gain the Resistance some new backers; nothing can go wrong with a Squadron split, right? Thankfully, everything does go wrong and that’s why we tune into Poe Dameron every issue, and #18 is no different. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #18”

Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #17

Poe Dameron #17

– Spoiler Review –

Poe Dameron #17 starts a new arc, “War Stories,” which brings back one of my favorite new comic characters of 2016, Suralinda Javos, while also putting the ladies of Black Squadron front and center and the search for the “traitor” Oddy Muva heats back up. Sure, there’s plenty of set-up,  but it’s entertaining as you’ve come to expect this series to be. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #17”

Poe Dameron #16

After an Annual interlude, we’re back to Speed in Space with Poe Dameron #16, which brings this particular space bus to a stop in all sorts of exciting ways, while allowing other members of Black Squadron to get a pleasant share of the spotlight. Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron Annual #1

Poe Dameron Annual #1

– Spoiler Review –

The Poe Dameron series has been delivering good ol’ fashion adventure and excitement since 2016 and it has now been around long enough to get an (official, more on that in a bit) Annual #1! Series writer Charles Soule takes a break and Robbie Thompson steps in, along with Nik Virella and Jordan Boyd on the art team for an enjoyably fun issue that unfortunately retreads realizations Poe’s already made about his role in the Resistance. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron Annual #1”

Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #15

Poe Dameron #15

– Spoiler Review –

As the fallout from the previous arc settled in the previous issue, Poe Dameron #15, aka Space Speed, gets the series right back to its fun, adventurous roots that have quickly placed it as this canon’s (early) Rogue Squadron supplement. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #15”

Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #14

Poe Dameron #14

– Spoiler Review –

As the dust settles from the events of the previous 13 issues, Poe Dameron #14 slows things way down to deal with the fallout of the last arc’s finale, as the Resistance honors a fallen member of Black Squadron which also manages to serve up a nice goodbye for Carrie Fisher (that’s possibly changed my opinion about Leia’s role going forward in the films), while Poe and Terex learn valuable lessons about their role in their respective fights (from the powerful women in their lives)…with varying outcomes for both. Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #13

Poe Dameron #13

– Spoiler Review –

Was there ever any doubt Charles Soule and Phil Noto could deliver a fantastic finale to Marvel’s most action-packed and adventurous series? Poe Dameron #13 not only wraps up its longest arc to date, “The Gathering Storm,” but it also deals with several story threads that have been around since the beginning, making this a well-rounded, action-packed, and even emotional finale for its first leg. Oh, and a certain homicidal droid named Mister Bones makes a scene-stealing appearance…what more could you ask for? Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #13”

Marvel Star Wars Panel Impressions (SWCO 2017)

The Screaming Citadel CoversConsidering the news of the Captain Phasma miniseries dropped in a different panel, Marvel’s panel was light on news but showed off some interior art for some upcoming issues and there were fun chats with creatives and editors alike. The most interesting thing to come out of the panel is that us in attendance might of sort of convinced the Marvel powers that be to make an Ahsoka series? Details below!

Panelists: Jordan D. White (Editor), Heather Antos (Supervising Editor), Charles Soule (Lando, Obi-Wan & Anakin, Poe Dameron), Phil Noto (Poe Dameron, Chewbacca), Matt Martin (Lucasfilm Story Group), and John Tyler Christopher (action figure cover variants). Poe Dameron #12

– Spoiler Review –

Poe Dameron‘s longest and latest arc, “The Gathering Storm,” reaches its penultimate issue in #12, where the chances our heroes, including Poe, Threepio, BB-8, and all of Black Squadron, have of surviving past issue #13 are looking as slim as they can ever get.
