SDCC 2018: The Clone Wars Returns, Coming to Disney’s Streaming Service

The wealth of content left unseen from the team behind the The Clone Wars series has been the stuff of legends for years, with The Clone Wars Legacy trickling out small doses of unproduced content in the form of incomplete episodes and novels. In the last few Celebrations, there have been peaks at what they had planned for the show from the likes of Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo, showing off concept art and clips from more unproduced episodes. Recently, Star Wars Rebels picked up with some of the show’s characters years later, offering some sense of closure to their story or starting their next chapter. But now the wait for more of the still unproduced content is over, as brand new episodes surrounding the events of “The Siege of Mandalore” are coming to a small screen near you via Disney’s upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service (Disney+)!!!! Check out the amazing teaser above and below you’ll not only find a video of the panel in its entirety, but I’ll discuss what we’ve already learned about the “Siege” storyline, as well as look at what content they teased in the past (Ahsoka’s first boyfriend, Boba’s rise in the bounty hunter ranks, a trip to Kashyyyk with the Bad Batch, and….the Yuuzhan Vong !?!). SDCC 2015: Marvel’s Chewbacca Series, Vader Down Crossover Event Announced

Chewbacca and Vader Down Series

Marvel’s Star Wars comics, outside of Kanan – The Last Padawan, have stayed in the nice little comfort zone of between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. While they have some “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens” material coming (Shattered Empire and a C-3P0 series), they announced at SDCC 2015 they’ll stay within their comfort era awhile longer with a Chewbacca mini-series and the “Vader Down” crossover event (Update: Reviews for “Vader Down” begin!). SDCC 2015: The Force Awakens Panel, BTS Video, General Hux, and More!

No, those weren’t tears in my eyes from watching the above behind-the-scenes video. Definitely not tears. I think it’s raining in my basement. Look, you watch that and try not to get a little teary-eyed, alright? Star Wars came to San Diego Comic Con for the first time to take a look at The Force Awakens, and while it covered some things we heard at April’s SWCA, it blew the roof off of Hall H and excauated everyone to a secret Star Wars concert. Technically it didn’t happen that way, but it sure felt like it and there was totally a concert they took everyone to! Details on what we all learned below. Story Fight Night: Game of Thrones VS A Song of Ice and Fire

At San Diego Comic-Con’s Game of Thrones panel, new cast members were announced for the upcoming 5th season and it’s all about the Benja…I mean Martells. Dorne will be featured heavily in the upcoming season, much like in the 4th book, and the repercussions from the death of a certain Prince really spices things up in the southern kingdom of Westeros. But out of the new cast, the most interesting part is the missing character: Arianne Martell. Factoring prominently into the 4th book’s Dorne focused chapters, does her lack of inclusion in the show hint to her not being important in the book’s end-game? George R.R. Martin answered the question when he made the simple point that “the show is the show and the books are the books.” I’m unsure if this has been addressed or mentioned already, but since it’s the first I’ve heard of it and differences between the show and TV series are of constant fascination to fans, I wanted to share my thoughts on just what Martin’s words mean going forward for both Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire. Marvel Shows Off Three New Star Wars Series At SDCC

Marvel Star Wars Comics Covers

During the Cup o’ Joe panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel finally announced some new series for their recently acquired Star Wars comics license. While more exciting than the pricey reprint of their original Star Wars run from some decades ago, Marvel’s three new series all take place in-between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, ground well-traveled for the saga in comics. This has a lot of people worried and/or uninterested, but the creative teams behind each series, Star Wars, Darth Vader, and Princess Leia all seem enthusiastic about working on the license, are fans themselves, and will be under the eyes of the Lucasfilm Story Group, all of which means not giving these a chance seems like a mistake.

Asajj Ventress

At the San Diego Comic-Con Del Rey panel titled Star Wars: A New Dawn, referring to both the book and new storytelling era it kicks off, a brand new novel was announced. Based off unaired scripts from The Clone Wars animated show, the novel stars Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos, authored by Christie Golden. The tentative time frame of summer 2015 was given for its release. While the novel is the biggest thing from the panel, there was some information shared regarding thoughts on how to view ‘canon’ and some hints at possible sources storytellers are mining for new content, like Legends work or unaired/unproduced pieces.
