Darth Vader Dark Lord of the Sith #2

Spoiler Review –

Darth Vader – Dark Lord of the Sith #2 can barely contain the Sith Lord’s rage as he barrels towards a Jedi enemy to defeat, who is introduced alongside an intriguing new revelation about the Jedi…with potential to tie into not only Luke’s story for The Last Jedi, but other Jedi. Canon Comic Review: Darth Maul #4

Darth Maul #4

– Spoiler Review –

While the verdict is still out if this latest of Darth Maul comics is a must-read, as there’s still one issue left, issue #4 makes another strong case for itself due to providing even more reasons to adore, root for, and be afraid for the likely doomed Jedi Padawan Eldra Kaitis. Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron Annual #1

Poe Dameron Annual #1

– Spoiler Review –

The Poe Dameron series has been delivering good ol’ fashion adventure and excitement since 2016 and it has now been around long enough to get an (official, more on that in a bit) Annual #1! Series writer Charles Soule takes a break and Robbie Thompson steps in, along with Nik Virella and Jordan Boyd on the art team for an enjoyably fun issue that unfortunately retreads realizations Poe’s already made about his role in the Resistance. Rey and the F Word

(Intro by Head Butler Ryan: This is Trinity’s first post as a contributor here at the Manor! I met her and her husband at Celebration Orlando this year as we waited in line for the Rebels S4 panel and I was fortunate enough to make two new friends, plus interest from her in writing for the site.  So give her a giant “Welcome to Fandom” hug over on Twitter @TrubelleNova, after you finish reading her article of course!)

What is Rey to you? When I think about our new Star Wars hero, Rey, I want to know her backstory. I want the question answered: is she a Jakku original or is she the long-lost daughter of Luke Skywalker? Is she the kidnapped baby of Leia and Han Solo or somehow through a long thread connected to Obi-Wan? But Rey is more than each of her story parts that we are so curious about. Let’s start at the beginning.

From the first time we see Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, she is independent. She leads a precarious profession that endangers her life daily and that danger coupled with the harsh elements of an outlaw desert world made her a survivor. The preferred adjective we give to those of her breed is “strong” and she is indeed that. But when fans discuss Rey’s journey, sometimes things go wrong. Her “strength” becomes a liability. Star Wars #32 - The Screaming Citadel Part 4

Star Wars #32 is Part 4 of The Screaming Citadel crossover and it is the zaniest and most enjoyable issue yet! Triple-Zero falls in love (?!?), the symbiotes bring plenty of screams, and Doctor Aphra makes a surprising (for her, at least) decision. Darth Vader Dark Lord of the Sith #1

Spoiler Review –

Darth Vader – Dark Lord of the Sith #1 begins literally right where Revenge of the Sith left off, delving into earliest days of Vader’s Sith training under Emperor Palpatine’s yoke. Canon Young Adult Novel Review: Rebel Rising

Rebel Rising

Spoiler Review –

Rebel Rising by Beth Revis is an excellently told tale about Jyn Erso’s life, set between the opening flashback of Rogue One and her being broke out of prison on Wobani by the Rebellion, while its Young Adult moniker should be ignored if that typically scares you away from a book because RR really highlights the harsher realities of the journey Jyn goes on. Canon Comic Review: Doctor Aphra #7 – The Screaming Citadel Part 3

Doctor Aphra #7 - The Screaming Citadel Part 3

– Spoiler Review –

The fun and excitement of The Screaming Citadel crossover continues to build in Part 3 – Doctor Aphra #7! The reunion of Sana and Aphra is better than expected (and deadlier!), all the characters together is a blast (even if Leia feels slightly off), and despite the art feeling a bit out of place, things get even more out of control than I imagined was possible, making this another fine entry into what’s shaping up to be a memorable crossover.
