Latest Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer Brings Hope to the Rebellion

The latest trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is here and brings tons of new details, including looks into the story of the Ersos, mainly Jyn and her father Galen, while trying to show there could be hope in such a dark time for the Rebellion. It also showcases how the film, as previously reported, was shot over the shoulder by director Gareth Edwards to make it feel like viewers were right down in the trenches with the rebels. This perspective also has the effect of making the Empire feel much larger and even more insurmountable than ever before (plus that shot of Vader busting through mist has me shaking in my boots every time I see it, especially after reading the excellent Darth Vader comic series). It’s hard to have hope looking at the daunting power of the Empire, but damn it Jyn is going to try to make us have a little of it just to see this through. I know I’ll give hope, and Rogue One, a try come December 16 later this year. Check below the cut for the new poster! Check out all the new Rogue One details, and my gallery from the costume exhibit, below! UPDATE 7/22: I’ve included the full panel video below (but it doesn’t include the new trailer). SWCE 2016 News Roundup Pt. 3: Ahsoka Untold Tales and Future Filmmaker Discussion Panels Announced

Twilight of the ApprenticeFans of Ahsoka Tano and those interested in the films beyond Rogue One have something to really look forward to at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 (July 15-17), as two newly announced panels look to spill the proverbial Jawa beans on those subjects. First off, Ahsoka’s Untold Tales features Dave Filoni, Pablo Hildalgo, and Ashley Eckstein (the voice of Ahsoka Tano herself!), who will discuss the character’s, “…past, from her discovery by the Jedi Order as a young child, to her adventures in unproduced episodes of The Clone Wars, to the chapters of her life newly revealed in the Ahsoka novel and more!” As someone who went to Celebration Anahiem 2015’s Untold Clone Wars panel, where they revealed tons of new content, this is sure to be an absolute must-see for Ahsoka fans. Secondly, the Future Filmmaker Discussion includes Rian Johnson (director for Ep.VIII), Chris Miller and Phil Lord (directors of the untitled Han Solo film), Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart, and Pablo Hildalgo as they, “…close out the weekend’s festivities on a high note!” Which, even if it’s just title reveals for both projects, would certainly be a high note for me. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s First Teaser Trailer Rebels in all the Right Ways

“This is a Rebellion, isn’t it? I rebel.” With those simple words Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, has already become a favorite of mine and many others. On top of that, from the pan over of the Death Star, Donnie Yen’s brief beat down of a stormtrooper, Mon Mothma, and those AT-ATs in the sand, the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer has proven a Star Wars film doesn’t need “Episode” before it to feel like a Star Wars film; Which is very good news for the A Star Wars Story brand. Some hi-res stills and extended thoughts below, but in short: December feels so much further away now than it did yesterday! Rogue One A Star Wars Story

After all the build up for The Force Awakens this week thanks to Entertainment Weekly, it wasn’t crazy to wonder just what else Lucasfilm could bring for their portion of the live-action panel at the D23 Expo this morning. They delivered on a scale most didn’t expect, as they announced the Rogue One cast (and stealthily rebranded the Anthology films into A Star Wars Story), a director for Episode IX was revealed, and dropped the bomb that TWO 14 ACRES Star Wars Lands are being planned. I’ll let that last part settle in and when you’re done hyperventilating, continue reading below for the details. Continue reading “D23 Expo: Rogue One Cast Revealed, Ep.
