Canon Young Reader Review: Forces of Destiny: Tales of Hope & Courage

Forces of Destiny - Tales of Hope and Courage

October was a great month for Forces of Destiny. Disney XD aired two animated specials, each featuring four new shorts alongside four old shorts at the beginning and end of the month. Forces of Destiny: Daring Adventures vol 2, focusing on Ahsoka, Leia, and Jyn Erso debuted the same day as From a Certain Point of View. Finally, after a one week delay, Forces of Destiny: Tales of Hope & Courage was released. Feeling a bit overwhelmed yet?

Star Wars Rebels Review: “Flight of the Defender”

Star Wars Rebels Flight of the Defende

– Spoiler Review –

Star Wars Rebels‘ “Flight of the Defender” has plenty of exciting action with the titular TIE, but a tease for the show’s endgame is what will stick with viewers for a very long time. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “Flight of the Defender””

Star Wars Rebels Review: “The Occupation”

Star Wars Rebels The Occupation

– Spoiler Review –

Star Wars Rebels has slowly gone darker over the years and “The Occupation” brings that home both literally a figuratively, forever altering the planet Lothal in unexpected, emotional, and compelling ways. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “The Occupation””

Forces of Destiny Review: The First 16 Episodes

Forces of Destiny Vol 1 and 2

The Forces of Destiny animated shorts, 2-3 minutes in length, are aimed at honoring the female heroines of the GFFA, released as two TV specials in the month of October, with more on the way next year. I’ll be going over the initial 16 episodes here, which include adventures with Princess Leia, Rey, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Ahsoka Tano, and many more, discussing why it’s easy to ignore their (literal) shortcomings and enjoy them as fun little stories with good moral kernels to devour, mainly for those way younger than this late-twenties year old. Legendary Adventures: The Old Republic Milestone

Legendary Adventures Old Republic Milestone

Part of every good adventure is putting down our own milestones. These milestones remind us where we’ve been and help point us forward to where we are going. As the Legendary Adventures crank on, it’s important to take a look back and remember where we have been so far!

A Star Wars Anthology Story: Retrospective on Jason Aaron’s Star Wars Comic Run (#1-37)

Since Marvel’s new beginnings with the Star Wars license, the Star Wars mainline series has been the backbone of the comics, providing adventurous tales about the Big Three: Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo. At the helm of the series since the start has been writer Jason Aaron, who has taken us on anthology-lite arcs of story between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, filling in what’s becoming quite the crowded era. His stories contained everything from big surprises were you least expected them to character moments big and small. And after 37 issues, stretching from January 2015 to October 2017, Jason Aaron’s run has come to an end. Having read the series since its inception, it’s time now to look back at Aaron’s legacy as this retrospective discusses what I feel has been the good, the bad, and the in-between of his nearly three year run. Star Wars Rebels Review: “In the Name of the Rebellion”

Star Wars Rebels In the Name of the Rebellion

– Spoiler Review –

Star Wars Rebels‘ final season gets another high octane hour with, “In the Name of the Rebellion,” which doesn’t manage to upstage the premiere but matches it in nearly every way possible, while deepening the series’ connective tissue with Rogue One. If this is the level they’ll maintain all season, we’re in for quite the final treat. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “In the Name of the Rebellion””

Video Game News Roundup: Battlefront II Campaign Trailer, Beta Impressions and Visceral Games’ Project “Shifting” (UPDATED)

With less than a month to release, we’ve finally been treated to the first singe-player focused trailer for Battlefront II, which just recently finished its multiplayer beta. I have some impressions from the Beta experience (no video this year, sorry!), which was bigger, better, but contained some concerning aspects (progression, loot boxes). And in very disappointing news, Visceral Games has been shut down, their Star Wars game shifting to a different studio and direction, with Amy Hennig’s participation in question. Update: 10/28: Clearer details on why the game collapsed have been unveiled, so: Read on for more details!
