Star Wars Battlefront Beta Dated: October 8th – 12th

Battlefront BetaSet your blasters to kill because the Star Wars Battlefront Beta will be hitting PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Origin on October 8th and will last until October 12th. There’s no special requirements to be in the Beta since it’s open to everyone and even if you don’t have online multiplayer access for your console of choice, at least one game type will be available offline. I’ll be playing as much as I can on my PS4 under the PSN name BrushYourTeeth, so add me if you want someone to target on the enemy lines or as a buddy on the battlefield. More details regarding what’s available in the Beta, including details on the Companion app, below.

From the press release:

    • Walker Assault on Hoth: Fight in epic 40-player battles as a Rebel to destroy the Empire’s onslaught of AT-AT’s by calling in Y-wing bombers. Or, side with the Empire and protect your walkers while utilizing their mighty weaponry to crush the Rebel objective.
    • Drop Zone on Sullust: Escape pods are crashing down and you and your team must fight to control them. With its frantic 8v8 matches, Drop Zone is sure to put your combat and strategy skills to the test.
  • Survival Mission on Tatooine: Play alone or with a friend via co-op or split-screen as you battle to hold off waves of Imperial forces including AT-ST’s, TIE fighters, elite stormtroopers and more.

There’s also a Companion experience available to test, and while it’ll be an app for your mobile device when the game launches on November 17, it’ll be only accessible via browser during the Beta:

…features the strategic card game Base Command, and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront. In addition to Base Command, the Companion also lets players check out game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends, and more.

UPDATE: Full details on what the Companion experience will entail.

After I’m done destroying your precious AT-ATs, I’ll have impressions for the site (possibly as a video) on my experiences with the Beta and the Companion features shortly after.
