To make the wait for Ep. IX in 2019 easier, there’s plenty of exciting events incoming for fans: the Star Wars Show announced Star Wars Celebration would return next year in a surprise move to Chicago, while Disney Parks’ blog just announced the general timeframes on when the two Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disneyland and Disney World. Head below for the details!

Celebration 2019 heading to Chicago comes as a surprise mainly because the general thought was it would be in Anaheim again to coincide with the opening of Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge, but with the news on when that actually opens finally out, the move to Chicago for April 2019 makes more sense. April has been the go-to month for Celebrations when it comes to a Skywalker Saga film release years, and it’s now a marketing plan Lucasfilm knows all too well, so it makes sense to keep it in April regardless of when Galaxy’s Edge would’ve opened. As for what will be shown and discussed at Celebration Chicago, over a massive 5 days (April 11-15)? Of course Ep. IX will make its first footage debut and more details on Galaxy’s Edge (including actual opening dates), but there’s also possible reveals from Rian Johnson’s upcoming trilogy, D.B. Weiss & David Benioff’s series of films, the next A Star Wars Story film (Kenobi, anyone?), the recently announced Star Wars Resistance, and even some more details for the upcoming live-action TV series from writer and Executive Producer Jon Favreau (who leaked the show takes place 7 years after the Battle of Yavin, which puts it 3 years post-Return of the Jedi, just around the time of Last Shot and after the Aftermath Trilogy). And that’s just what we know about, and with 5 days to fill, who knows what type of surprises could be in store. Tickets for Celebration Chicago go live June 5, as well as the Celebration block of hotels, so be at the ready when those drop to get your chance to join in on the fun! Seeing as I’ve been to every Celebration since Anaheim AND I live in Milwaukee, WI, you can damn well bet the Manor will once again be bringing you news straight from the show floor.

While it’s not specific dates, “Summer 2019” for Disneyland and “Fall 2019” for Disney World should allow you to begin planning your trips to be the first to enter the Star Wars galaxy via Galaxy’s Edge in 2019. No word on if the immersive hotels, where you’re given a wardrobe and will be connected directly to the park, will be open at the same time, but the time to head to Batuu is growing near. Don’t forget you’ll be able to catch of glimpse of the planet in July’s upcoming novel, Thrawn: Alliances.
