Stunning New The Rise of Skywalker Footage in Saga Sizzle Reel

It’s time to stop reading about The Rise of Skywalker footage from D23 2019 over the weekend and actually get to watch it! The new footage is nothing short of epic, from the scale of Kylo Ren and Rey’s lightsaber battle, the giant, silent fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers (not First Order!), a glimpse of more Leia, Rey throwing her saber, Sheev Palpatine’s creepy words, and of course the shot we’ve been talking about all weekend: Rey, hooded and cloaked in black, flipping open a double-bladed red lightsaber. Is it a vision? How much of a misdirect is this shot? Is all part of Rey’s plan, whatever they maybe? December 20 just became a helluva lot further away! And here’s a GIF of Dark Rey to obsess over for the rest of the day:

D23 2019: The Rise of Skywalker Teaser Poster Released, Sizzle Reel Footage Due Monday

The Rise of Skywalker Teaser Poster Cropped

Out of the film panel at D23, The Rise of Skywalker got its first teaser poster, a splashy affair in the fight between the light and the dark, with ol’ Sheev himself looming over the resulting battle. There was also a sizzle reel shown to attendees, which had shots from every film, and ended with new TROS footage, including showing Rey hooded, cloaked, and wielding a red, double bladed lightsaber?!?!?!?!?!?! It’s exclusive to the convention until Monday, a not too terrible wait, though getting to see Rey’s new look (which over on Twitter I surmised is from a scene of Rey raiding Kylo Ren’s closet for a fun afternoon) is making me want the weekend to be over for once. Head below for the full poster and check back Monday for the exciting sounding footage! UPDATE: The footage is here! Celebrating 2019’s Star Wars Day in style, Lucasfilm announced the Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker publishing program, teased a few weeks ago at Celebration Chicago 2019! A lot of the canon novel/comic material covers stories set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, with Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Leia, and Chewie central to the tales as they attempt to rebuild the Resistance. Check out the details to some of the major releases coming later this year below! Continue reading “Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Unveiled on May the 4th!”

Episode IX Titled The Rise of Skywalker, Teaser Trailer Revealed (SWCC 2019)

Wow. Leaves you speechless, doesn’t it? So much to take in! Rey pulling off a bomb-ass move against what I’m assuming is Kylo in his TIE; Luke saying all the generations of Jedi are in her now; Lando chuckling with glee, in a Solo-esque outfit, at piloting the Falcon again (aka he’s with L3-37 once again!); Kylo Ren cutting down some Resistance soldiers on a creepy red-hued planet; Leia and Rey hugging; Finn and Poe together on adventures with Threepio; and of course that final shot of Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Threepio, and BB-8 looking at the downed Death Star II (originally part of early TFA drafts), with Emperor Palpatine’s cackles echoing loud and clear (Ian McDiarmid did appear to ask them to roll the trailer again)?!?!?!! What?!?!?! Is this Kylo finishing what Anakin/Vader started (thanks to Mark for that thought)?! Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker will be the end of the Skywalker Saga and, from this teaser at least, it looks like it’ll be an unforgettable and surprised filled ending. I can’t say the panel beforehand revealed anything terribly important, but it’s a blast to see the cast all together having a great time, to meet Naomie Ackie’s Jannah (who didn’t say no to being Lando’s daughter, but didn’t confirm), and seeing new droid D-O. All the StormPilot fun with Oscar Isaac and John Boyega for Poe and Finn was pure joy, Joonas is a sweet soul, but the greatest moment was the fans celebrating Kelly Marie Tran, bullied off social media due to people who aren’t actually fans, as she deserved getting to see the love and support all the actual fans have for her (and that BTS shot of Rose and Rey talking is just about everything). Check below for some images from the trailer, as well as the livestream in full. The Rise of Skywalker doesn’t quite complete the title sentence like I had hoped all those years ago, but I am dying to see this come December 20! Canon Comic Miniseries Review: Han Solo – Imperial Cadet (#1-5)

Han Solo Imperial Cadet Miniseries Review

– Spoiler Review –

Han Solo – Imperial Cadet fills in Solo: A Star Wars Story’s three year time jump with a fun, low stakes stay for Han in the Imperial Academy, where its secondary characters are more intriguing than the main because he doesn’t have as much growth as they do, resulting in a miniseries that’s not vital for enjoyment of the film but has plenty of enjoyable moments on its own. The Mandalorian won’t be alone on Disney’s upcoming streaming service, Disney+, as Diego Luna will return to play Cassian Andor in a spy thriller TV series set prior to Rogue One (for obvious reasons…)!
