This year’s Lucasfilm Publishing Panel at SDCC had some little tastes of other publications on their way or recently released, but a big focus was the upcoming third and final Phase of The High Republic, revealing new covers full of theory-inducing images fans will be ruminating over until it begins in the fall. High Republic Show: Burryaga Lives, The Eye of Darkness Cover Revealed

After much hype and circumstance, the latest The High Republic Show finally arrives with the promise of revealing Burryaga’s fate. It was a foregone conclusion they wouldn’t center a big hype train on revealing his fate only for him to be dead, but it was still very reassuring when host Krystina Arielle brought the good word: Burry Lives!! We’ll find out how in Tales of Light and Life (out September 5, available at SDCC early, and ebook releasing July 25), likely via Charles Soule’s story called “All Jedi Walk Their Own Path,” which we already knew would center on Bell Zettifar’s tireless search for his friend. Beyond the good news, we got a reveal of the cover for The Eye of Darkness, George Mann’s opening novel to Phase III, as well as a promise of at least one reveal at the SDCC Lucasfilm Publishing Panel on July 21! Publishing Panels Round Up: Dark Horse Has Jaxxon, High Republic Adventures Phase III, Lucasfilm Shows More FaCPOV – Return of the Jedi, Wookiee Reference Book, And More! (SWCA 2023)

Day Three of Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 had two different publishing focused panels, starting with a full one just for Dark Horse‘s contributions and later one for Lucasfilm Publishing‘s own works, though both were a little light on announcements. Dark Horse focused on Jaxxon, as their upcoming Annual stars the hare-brained scoundrel (and writer Cavan Scott promised there will be more), and some upcoming The High Republic Adventures teases for Phase II and Phase III. Lucasfilm Publishing spent time revealing new pages from upcoming reference titles, announcing a new one all about Wookiees (!!), and of course more The High Republic content as well. With Phase II nearing its end, much of Celebration Europe 2023’s High Republic panel focused on teasing what was ahead for Phase III: Trials of the Jedi, as we got a ton of title reveals and a general timeline for its length, with Phase III ending in 2025! Pair all the reveals with Alyssa Wong (Doctor Aphra) joining the team and the big news a fan favorite character appears in The Acolyte (!!!), it means The High Republic keeps on winning. These excellent collections of 40 stories from 40 different authors has brought us memorable, unique, jaw-dropping, exciting, and weird new perspectives on the original trilogy films so far and I expect Return of the Jedi’s to be no different. The High Republic Show Season Three Premiere: Phase II Reveals and Celebration London Hype

I can’t believe we’re on what’s being called the third season of The High Republic Show! Host Krystina Arielle is hilarious as ever, from the skit with the Yoda statue to her presence in interviews, it’s a blessing she’s still with the team. The first show of the season and the latest for Phase II does a great job catching up fans on what’s all happened so far, and while it has some interior sneak peek for upcoming content, it’s clear they are holding back a bit for the Celebration Europe panel in April. High Republic Anthology Titled Tales of Light and Life, Celebration London Panel Revealed

The High Republic’s Phase II: Quest for the Jedi is barreling towards it end in May, leavings fans to wait for Phase III to start in November, though thankfully there’ll be content to tide everyone over, like the much-anticipated YA Anthology featuring all the initiative’s authors! Young Jedi Adventures Premieres May 4, Books Announced {UPDATED}

As a big fan of the initiative, it’s been awesome to see The High Republic grow beyond its publishing beginnings. I’ve had the chance to enjoy the VR related games out there and am eagerly awaiting The Acolyte’s premiere, though on May 4 (April 26 for the shorts) here’s more High Republic-era set content on its way: Young Jedi Adventures! The youngling focused animated series premieres on Disney+ for Star Wars Day alongside Star Wars Visions Volume 2, while a range of books have been announced for the newest and youngest fans to enjoy, so head below for all the details! Novel News: Qi’ra Stars in Crimson Climb, Out October 10

Qi’ra entered legendary status thanks to Emilia Clarke’s performance of the character in Solo: A Star Wars Story and fans have been clamoring for more of her and her story ever since. In 2020, she shocked fans by returning in a big comics crossover and continues to dominate the storyline as she attempts to take on the Sith ruling the galaxy, in full control of Crimson Dawn. While an excellent book has already glimpsed her life prior to the start of the film, E.K. High Republic Show: Year End Entry Reveals Character Encyclopedia, New Covers, and More!

2022 has been a pretty eventful year for The High Republic, even if it only released across 6 of the 12 months. 2022 started with the finale to Phase I that saw Starlight Beacon fallen and story left on a cliffhanger and the year ended with the beginning of Phase II, the 150 years extra blast to the past for extra context to the era’s story. The High Republic Show and the affable Krystina Arielle have been there for us through the big moments and the quiet in-betweens, feeding us many feasts of content and now they have one last holiday gift for us with this year end show! There’s a peak behind Dark Horse’s content, author discussions, and the requisite reveals, Character Encyclopedia anyone!?, but I’ve also included some other recent news, like another author roundtable and previews galore.
