Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Moves to May 27, Two Episode Premiere

Obi-Wan giveth and taketh away. The wait for the Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series is going to be only two days longer now, right smack dab in the middle of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 (I won’t be going this year unfortunately, breaking my streak, but we’ll have coverage). Ewan McGregor was kind enough to tell us of the switch and, even though it’s his birthday today, offered us a gift for having to wait two more days to see him in the role again: the first two episodes will premiere May 27 (with subsequent episode out on Wednesdays)! It’s already a short show, so I was a little disappointed it’ll be over sooner, but more Obi-Wan right away is never a bad thing. We’ll have any more trailers and details as they appear, but make sure to check back to the Manor on May 27 for our reviews, though in the meantime check out our coverage of the recent first teaser trailer! Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer Arrives, EW Offers Extra Details

Hello there, indeed! As May 25 approaches, the marketing for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series begin to spill out, starting with Entertainment Weekly’s morning batch of stills and some scant details, followed by the first teaser trailer in the afternoon. It’s our first glimpse of Ewan McGregor in full Obi-Wan mode again (no, you’re fanning yourself!), weary and beaten by time and his mission, but avoiding and dealing with the Inquisitor threat seems to bring him some joy again, especially as he gets off Tatooine. There’s glimpses of Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor, Sung Kang as the Fifth Brother Inquisitor, and lots of Moses Ingram’s Reva, a new Inquisitor I really want to know more about, plus even a glimpse of Joel Edgerton as Uncle Owen…and even a young Luke Skywalker! The plot’s under wraps but this first glimpse is gorgeous and intriguing enough you don’t really need to know more. Head below for stills from the trailer and the little information and images EW dropped. UPDATE 3/10: Now includes more from EW’s cover article, including the first look at Darth Vader. Obi-Wan Kenobi Debuts May 25 on Disney+

Obi-Wan Kenobi Teaser Poster Close Up

While there’s no trailer yet, though I’m holding out hope for a surprise Super Bowl Ad, there’s a neat poster to celebrate the release date announcement for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+: May 25 (UPDATE: It’s now premiering May 27 with the first two episodes)! A trailer shouldn’t be too far behind anyways, as the date is just over three months away, though releasing it on the 45th Anniversary of A New Hope certainly puts a lot of faith in the show to be worth the wait. Head below for the full poster and our previous coverage of the series, like its impressive cast list! Continue reading “Obi-Wan Kenobi Debuts May 25 on Disney+”

Disney+ Day 2021: Obi-Wan Kenobi Sizzle Reel Unveiled

Obi-Wan Kenobi Concept Obi-Wan vs Darth Vade

It’s always good to temper expectations for reveals, no matter how consistent insiders are regarding upcoming content plus taking into consideration Lucasfilm’s past marketing efforts, so it shouldn’t have been too surprising the Star Wars content for Disney+ Day 2021 turned out to only be a sizzle reel for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi show (which can still only be seen on Disney+ at the moment). It doesn’t mean this can’t be disappointing, especially since this reel was the one shown to investors a year ago and it leaked online Thursday afternoon, but it’s still got some exciting concept art images to drool theorize over until we get an official trailer/release date: Darth Vader looking ominous sitting on a lonely throne in his Mustafar castle; Vader and Obi-Wan locking sabers on what looks like Mustafar again; an underwater Imperial facility; and an image that looks suspiciously like it could contain the Second Sister from Jedi: Fallen Order. Otherwise, Fortnite looks to have its latest Star Wars crossover with Boba Fett/Fennec Shand, there was some new merchandise revealed (like the Lula doll from The Bad Batch), and a little documentary about Boba Fett (that doesn’t even mention the EU books of Legend-lore, interestingly enough, but has some neat BTS footage), but for now head below to check out the concept art images and tune back into the Manor for more…once they decide to release it, of course. Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Cast Announced, Production Begins April

Obi-Wan Kenobi Cast Announced

Knowing Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen will be back for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series, directed by Deborah Chow, is enough to make myself and many other fans excited it, but today the official site announced the remaining cast and holy Force is it stacked and wonderfully diverse: Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. With the series, set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, beginning production in April, and this seemingly being a shift to Lucasfilm trying out a little more marketing than normal for these shows, maybe we’ll get some BTS fun for May the Fourth? Regardless, let’s dive into the casting announcements below! Continue reading “Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Cast Announced, Production Begins April”

The Future of Star Wars Disney Investors Day 2020 Image

Star Wars is dead…long live Star Wars! And honestly, I have no clue how or where to begin this ginormous, overwhelming drop of news about the future of Star Wars, as there are nearly 10 new series announced for Disney+ and a new movie from Patty Jenkins called Rogue Squadron all set to hit our collective eyeballs in the next few years! Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Still on Schedule, Despite Recent Rumblings

You Dont Want to Buy Anymore Rumors About the Kenobi Show

After a baseless rumor of its cancellation, swiftly refuted by reputable sources, several reports came out late Thursday saying the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series was on hold. Out of all the projects in the works that we know about, this is definitely the most high profile of the bunch, as who doesn’t want to see Ewan McGregor donning his epic beard and Jedi robes again? Before the response to the news could get too out of control, the Jedi Master himself spoke out about the rumors, telling Variety that they’re just improving the scripts and the show will premiere as originally planned, despite, “…shooting early next year as opposed to summer this year.” Continue reading “Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Still on Schedule, Despite Recent Rumblings”
