The Book of Boba Fett Season One Review: “Chapter 5 – Return of the Mandalorian”

Book-of-Boba-Fett-Return-The-Mandalorian-Review

– Spoiler Review –

It’s hard not to spoil the latest The Book of Boba Fett, as it’s all sort of there in the title, isn’t it? “Chapter 5 – Return of the Mandalorian” takes us into a different world, leaving me to argue its title means The Mandalorian not the Mandalorian, but once one makes peace with that, director Bryce Dallas Howard takes viewers on a joyous ride of an episode. Cold Bounty Collected on The Mandalorian Publishing Program

The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Chapter 16 The Rescue

Looks like Lucasfilm collected the bounty on The Mandalorian’s publishing program the harsh way: cold. Announced back in June 2020, the program promised to dive into the show’s little Grogu-sized pocket of the Star Wars universe, with everything from the usual Ultimate Visual Guide to even an original novel written by Adam Christopher (which had first been delayed to this year), but only the “Art of” book released so far and now the remaining content is shelved. With the exploding success of the show, how often production and stories change, and all the connected TV shows set to come out too, it seems the story of Din Djarin, the Mandalorians and the Darksaber, and Grogu will primarily unfold on our TV screens via Disney+ instead, so no Frog Family books on the horizon, unfortunately. Author Adam Christopher at least has the opportunity for a new novel and we’ll be here, patiently awaiting its reveal. Otherwise, there’s the awesome and only just beginning The High Republic initiative to be excited about with publishing, while The Book of Boba Fett is set to hit our screens at the end of the year with The Mandalorian’s third season sometime in 2022. Actions Have Consequences: Lucasfilm No Longer Working With Gina Carano Due to Her Anti-Semitic, Transphobic Views

Gina Carano Let Go by Lucasfilm News

Yesterday shouldn’t have been the final straw for Gina Carano, instead what concerned Lucasfilm back in November, enough to make them question her leading her own show (likely Rangers of the New Republic), should’ve been when they cut her loose. Unfortunately, there was no word, one way or another, as she spread anti-science ideas, false election fraud claims, support of the violent insurrection on January 6, anti-semitic memes, and transphobic behavior in tweets/Instagram posts long after November, leaving trans/non-binary fans (and any fan of Star Wars who understands her actions are antithetical to what the franchise stands for) to feel forgotten by Lucasfilm as she featured more prominently in The Mandalorian’s second season. The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Review: “Chapter 16 – The Rescue”

The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Chapter 16 The Rescue

Spoiler Review –

The Mandalorian Season Two Finale, “Chapter 16 – The Rescue,” finds Din Djarin, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, and some familiar faces finally taking the fight to Moff Gideon to rescue Grogu. While it often goes the way you think, it’s still a tense, excellent finale with a few things to nitpick. Continue reading “The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Review: “Chapter 16 – The Rescue””

The Mandalorian Season Two Review: “Chapter 15 – The Believer”

The Mandalorian Season Two Chapter 15 The Believer

The Mandalorian Season Two Review: “Chapter 14 – The Tragedy”

The Mandalorian Season Two Chapter 14 The Tragedy

Spoiler Review –

The title about says it all, doesn’t it?! I mean, it doesn’t completely cover everything that goes down, but when it appeared in the episode, it was an effective way to set the stage for what was about to happen. The Mandalorian “Chapter 14 – The Tragedy,” drenched in visceral action director Robert Rodriguez is known for, brings several big threads to a head and sets the stage for the story to come in the final two episodes. The Mandalorian Season Two Review: “Chapter 13 – The Jedi”

The Mandalorian Season Two Chapter 13 The Jedi

Spoiler Review –

The Mandalorian’s “Chapter 13 – The Jedi,” directed by Dave Filoni of Star Wars animation fame, is a lot to take in, from the first live-action appearance of Ahsoka Tano, the reveal of Baby Yoda’s name and some of his history, and another big name from book/animation/Legends lore mentioned, and while I overall enjoyed it and all its implications, part of its biggest draw is its biggest weakness. The Mandalorian Season Two Review: “Chapter 12 – The Siege”

The Mandalorian Season 2 Chapter 12 The Siege

Spoiler Review –

The Mandalorian’s “Chapter 12 – The Siege” reminds me a bit of an 80’s action movie, it was directed by Carl Weathers after all, from its comradery between old friends and allies, infiltration of a villain’s lair, and plenty of humor, but it feels smarter than one too, as it reveals some new and intriguing details on Moff Gideon’s plans. As much as I enjoyed this episode, I’d be committing a dereliction of duty if I didn’t talk about how it also means the involvement of Gina Carano and how that brings things down. The Mandalorian Season Two Review: “Chapter 11 – The Heiress”

The Mandalorian Season Two Chapter 11 The Heiress

The Mandalorian’s “Chapter 11 – The Heiress” is filled to the brim with heart, epic action, and reveals, making it easily the best episode of the season and right up there with the best of the first. Continue reading “The Mandalorian Season Two Review: “Chapter 11 – The Heiress””

The Mandalorian Season Two Review: “Chapter 10 – The Passenger”

The Mandalorian Season Two Chapter 10 The Passenger

Spoiler Review –

Baby Yoda, aka the Child, is quite the cute troublemaker, isn’t he!? The Mandalorian “Chapter 10 – The Passenger” finds Din and the Child helping out a stranger who might have a lead on more Mandalorians, but nothing is ever that simple in another rollicking episode.
