“No one is safe from the truth” is a wonderful little tagline for The Acolyte, as showrunner/executive producer Leslye Headland has teased multiple times now the show is sort of like an onion, peeling away something new right up until the finale. So one could say, in honor of a show I only started watching two years ago, the truth is out there, somewhere, and it’s up to The Acolyte‘s characters if they want to accept it or not. There’s plenty of mystery to unlock, just from the trailer alone: whose side is Qimir (Manny Jacinto) on, since we see him talking with Mae (Amandla Stenberg)? In the key art poster below, why are there two Mae’s and why does Headland tease this by saying “…embrace the duality that exists in every character,” as is she hinting Mae has a twin?! And Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) asks the one everyone wants to know, “What are you?” to the masked, red-blade wielding character shown in the trailer’s final moments, whom Headland teases is her favorite character, as are they Sith or something else? June 4’s two episode premiere can’t come soon enough! Head below for the poster and some new Databank entries about characters, ships, and droids below!
Not only did we get to hear Vernestra Rwoh finally speak in the trailer, but she’s got her lightsaber out and ready in poster below, which we love to see and hope turn into her lightwhip if the situation calls for it! She recently took center stage in The High Republic: Defy the Storm and will be part of June 11’s The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, so lots of Vernestra to enjoy for High Republic fans in June!! Also on the poster are Vectors, the Jedi starfighter of choice in the THR era, though their design has changed slightly, which makes sense given how often ship designs change over the years; here’s hoping we get to see them need to put their lightsabers in to activate the weapons! We also get a look at Pip, a little handheld droid with plenty of tool attachments, and in the announcement of a droid-design contest with Autodesk, the video in the article includes The Acolyte behind-the-scenes footage and some of Pip in action; the droid looks like a no-brainer toy to have on shelves for everyone to buy one day! We finally learned the name of Dean-Charles Chapman’s character, Torbin, who is Master Indara’s (Carrie-Anne Moss) Padawan, though his Databank entry currently says he’s a Jedi Master of a Jedi Outpost, but I’ve reached out to see which it is (or if it’s technically both, as in we might see him become a Jedi Master); I am more curious about what’s happening to him when Mother Aniseya’s Witches turn his eyes black! And another Databank entry introduces us to the Jedi shuttle the Polan, as seen in the trailer.
My hype for this show doesn’t really have a limit yet and at this point, I just want to start experiencing it! I’ll be watching The Phantom Menace in theaters for its 25th Anniversary on May 7, and if you saw it already, there’s a possibility you’ve seen The Acolyte preview footage that comes with it!
