Forces of Destiny Fight Gorax, Save Art, and Help Porgs in Second Half of Season Two

Forces of Destiny A Disarming Lesson 5

As a special Star Wars Day 2018 present, the second half of episodes from Forces of Destiny‘s second season have arrived (announced the day before). Since there are usually eight, and this time only seven dropped, the remaining episode might be hiding in the TV special airing May 25 aka the same day as that little indie movie Solo: A Star Wars Story hits our galaxy, so maybe there’s a Qi’ra and Han episode on the way? In the meantime, check out the newest episodes below, along with a few quick thoughts. Full review of the second season to follow the TV special.

“Chopper and Friends”

Looks like Hera didn’t read Daniel José Older’s Last Shot yet and has underestimated Ewoks, just like everyone else. Somehow Chopper’s the first one to see their potential, but maybe that’s because he just wanted to share murder techniques with whomever would listen and they are the first ones to do so. The Ewok who saves the day is Kneesaa, one of the characters in the animated Ewok TV show during the 80’s, so welcome back to animation/canon, little one!

“Monster Misunderstanding”

Padmé shows up and the day is saved; What else did you expect from the Queen? Seriously, as simple as these episodes can be, damn does she just show all her male guards up in an instant like the boss she is. This is why we need more Padmé content, especially solo adventures.

“Art History”

One of two episodes that give us more of a sister/brother dynamic that has been underutilized so far. The banter here is hilarious and I love how Tristan knows he’s powerless to stop Sabine when she really wants to do something. In the announcement of these episodes I wondered when this takes place, but seeing as the press release photos showed Sabine with the darksaber, it obviously takes place in the prior to Star Wars Rebels‘ S4 premiere.

“Porgs!”

Despite there not even being a lick of dialogue we can understand this episode (besides those of you who speak Wookiee), the sound design and animation made this cute, silly little tale easy to follow. More Chewie and more porgs, please.

“Perilous Pursuit”

A friendly reminder we really, really, really need more of Rey and Finn together in Ep. IX. We’re getting just a small tease of their excellent friendship post-The Last Jedi in the current Poe Dameron comic arc, “The Awakening.

“Traps and Tribulations”

Luke and Leia fighting together as siblings, full wonder-twins powers activated? I really hope there’s plenty more where this came from in the post-Return of the Jedi era because it is an awesome sight to behold. Shelby Young’s great Leia alongside Mark Hamill’s Luke is also another reason this one turns out so well. As for that giant creature, the Gorax, he’s a transplant from the Ewok TV movie, Caravan of Courage, and let’s just say I’m glad there’s not another whole movie about his defeat.

“A Disarming Lesson”

As much as I loved Kanan as a teacher for Ezra throughout Star Wars Rebels, I really enjoy Ahsoka’s more aggressive training style. It really makes me hope we’ll get to see her interact with Luke or other potential Jedi as we learn what she was up to during the original trilogy/her exploits after RotJ.
