Jedi: Fallen Order Title of Respawn’s Star Wars Game, Coming Holiday 2019

EA Play 2018 Jedi Fallen Order Reveal

At the annual gaming convention expo E3, video game publisher EA kicked off the festivities with their EA Play showcase, revealing sparse details and a title for Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming Star Wars game, first teased to have lightsaber wielding characters in 2016. Titled Jedi: Fallen Order, the game takes place shortly after Revenge of the Sith, following a surviving Padawan, and it’ll release Holiday 2019 (there’s already a website). With Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019 happening in April 2019, I’d say that would be our best bet to finally get footage and more specific details about the game.

Respawn was originally announced to be working on a Star Wars game on May the 4th of 2016. One month later we got the BTS footage of stunt actors wearing mo-cap suits and battling with lightsabers, while Game Director Stig Asmusen looked on. This is the first word on their game since then, and while it might seem disappointing there was no footage and this was announced while they were sitting in the crowd, I’m just happy to know it is still a thing rather than getting vague teases like with Visceral’s game only for it to be canceled and the studio shuttered. Respawn isn’t going anywhere and this game is coming out in 2019, which is better than having to go through another E3 without learning anything about it.

With the story following a surviving Padawan of Order 66, it’d be a good place to include some Inquisitors, be it the Grand Inqusitior or even a new one trying to rise in the ranks, to hunt down the Padawan. The Inquisitors were first introduced in Star Wars Rebels, while the on-going comic series Darth Vader – Dark Lord of the Sith has been exploring their earlier days a bit, but I guess it all depends on the timeline for this game on whether the Inquisitors were a thing or not already. Maybe the events of this game begin the Inquisitorious, with the fun twist of the Padawan becoming one of them? This is all speculation for the time being though, so don’t go getting your hopes up (and I’m trying not to get mine up, either).

Like I said before, expect a lot more details at Celebration Chicago or shortly after at E3 2019.
