Legendary Adventures: Children of the Jedi

Legendary Adventures #80 Children of the Jedi

On a mission to discover lost Jedi, Luke Skywalker finds a bit more than expected. Unfortunately, the specter of a long dead enemy has his Eye on them… join the Legendary Adventures as we read Children of the Jedi!

Luke Skywalker’s nascent Jedi Order wouldn’t have much of a fighting chance if it wasn’t for Jedi that broke the rules of the Order long ago. He himself is the product of the union of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Naboo Senator Padme Amidala. Another Jedi, Corran Horn, is the ancestor of Jedi Master Halcyon, who served in the Clone War alongside Anakin. Now, Luke will come across another of the unorthodox Jedi – Callista Ming, who was a part of a Jedi sect that did not eschew attachments. Callista once served with Ahsoka Tano, Anakin’s former apprentice. At some point, the rogue sect intersected with the Republic Commandos, but Callista was separated from that. In fact, the whereabouts of Callista were lost…until now.

The New Republic, now with a little more time on their hands, finds themselves aiding Luke Skywalker in his journey to restore the Jedi Order. Leia Organa and Han Solo begin to search for Jedi on the planet Belsavis, where rumors indicate a large population of Jedi hid away. Worse, though, is the sense of dread that covers the planet: those who go to Belsavis never return. Luke goes to an asteroid belt on Pzob, where he discovers his own lost Jedi – and damning superweapon.

That’s right, another superweapon from the time of the Empire has been unearthed. As if the first two Death Stars and the Sun Crusher weren’t enough, Luke has now discovered yet another of Palpatine’s machinations. This one? The Eye of Palpatine, a mobile station with the power, again, to destroy planets. Before his death, Palpatine orchestrated this superweapon as the means by which he could destroy the Jedi on Belsavis, but Callista gave her life to stop Palpatine from destroying them. Her consciousness was joined to the ship’s computers, a grave sacrifice, but one that saved the Jedi on Belsavis.

But with the awakening of Callista in the computer, so too does the Eye awaken again. It becomes a race against time for Luke and some of his Jedi to stop the machine from reaching Belsavis and destroying the Jedi, Han, and Leia. A Jedi student sacrifices her own life to destroy the Eye, but her sacrifice does more than simply stop the weapon. Her body becomes a host for Callista, finally allowing her consciousness to leave the computer after three decades. This solidifies a connection that was growing between Luke and Callista, allowing them to finally physically experience the budding romance that was developing throughout Luke’s time on the station.

But Callista’s connection with the Force isn’t as full as it used to be. And, unbeknownst to the Jedi, secrets in Hutt space and Sith history will begin to rear their ugly head as they journey to rebuild the Order…

Legendary Travel Tips:
-This novel serves as part one of an “unofficial” trilogy, followed by the infamous Darksaber. The trilogy has been dubbed “The Callista Trilogy,” but it has not appeared on any official media that I know of.
-Certain antagonists in this novel are introduced only to be forgotten about until the New Jedi Order series. I’ll revisit them there when their significance becomes more important.
