Legendary Adventures: Darksaber

Legendary Adventures #81 Darksaber

Massive shake-ups in the Empire and the Hutt cartels threaten to shape the entire galaxy, but Luke and Callista are on a more intimate mission to reconnect with the Force. Join the Legendary Adventures today as we read Darksaber!

Callista Ming, a Jedi Knight recently freed from the Imperial superweapon/ship known as the Eye of Palpatinehas regained a human body, but has not regained her connection with the Force. She and Luke, now involved in a budding romance and flights of passion, set out to see what they can do to help her reconnect with the energy field that binds all things together. Luke’s idea? Visit all of the places that he learned of the Force, hoping to see her connection be strengthened. Their journey starts on Tatooine, where his journey began, with Luke hoping to connect with the spirit of Ben Kenobi. When that fails, they travel to Hoth, where he first encountered Ben’s spirit. Ben’s spirit never shows up, so they travel to Dagobah, hoping that perhaps the spirit of Master Yoda will. Yoda doesn’t appear either, so the journey seems to come to a standstill. They return to the Academy on Yavin IV.

Han is on his own mission, but of a completely different caliber. He has heard rumors that the Hutt cartels have been overly active in the past couple of months and he hopes to see what could be going on. He travels to Tatooine with Luke and Callista, to the former Jabba’s Palace, to see what he can find out. What he doesn’t know, but the New Republic soon finds out, is that the Hutts are working on their own superweapon: the Darksaber. The Darksaber is designed by Bevel Lemelisk, the man who designed the first Death Star. The superweapon is hidden in an asteroid belt in the Anoat system, near Hoth, and the New Republic attacks it in a failed raid, in which Crix Madine is killed. Thankfully, the asteroid belt flattens the superweapon itself, destroying the station.

Admiral Daala is on her own mission, one to take over the entirety of the Empire under her control. (Just a touch better than a superweapon is having your own government, huh?) Admiral Daala uses just a bit more biological warfare to wipe them out, letting her take control of the Empire and become allies with Vice Admiral Pellaeon. Pallaeon, a former Admiral in the Republic during the Clone War, has some reservations about this, but mostly works with Daala anyway. Daala uses her flagship, the Star Destroyer  Knight Hammer, to attack Yavin IV.

The cost to the Jedi Order in repelling Daala’s attack is very high. Kyp Durron and Dorsk 81 stand against Daala and race to warn the Jedi, but Dorsk 81 is forced to sacrifice himself. He acts as a sort of catalyst for the Jedi’s Force abilities, used to repel the Imperial fleet. This new Force power, essentially, collects all of the Force energy of a group of Jedi and disperses it across a huge area. Callista is also presumed dead when she hijacks a TIE Bomber, taking the craft against Daala’s Star Destroyer. Callista promises to continue the journey to reconnect with the Force on her own, leaving Luke to lead the Jedi without his new lover.

Imperial and Hutt factions aren’t the only ones stirring. The Adumarii people are also looking to rejoin the galaxy, but aren’t sure which side to ally themselves with. The Rogues are dispatched to help out when things get hot, as…well, as they always do.

Legendary Travel Tips:
-Despite being unofficially called “The Callista Trilogy”, the books aren’t sequential in the final canonical order. This book is preceded by Children of the Jedi and followed by X-Wing: Starfighters of Adumar.
