The Galactic Alliance is rebuilding after the Second Galactic Civil War. But it will have to do so without Luke Skywalker, who is exiled from the Jedi. He is forced to seek answers behind the dark side…and confront the nature of the Force itself. Join the Legendary Adventures as we read Fate of the Jedi: Outcast!

Two years prior, the brutal Darth Caedus took over the Galactic Alliance, ruling the galaxy as Chief of State. As Chief of State, Darth Caedus ruled with an iron fist against enemies like the Corellians who rose up against the Alliance. The Second Galactic Civil War ended with the death of Caedus, killed by his sister, Jaina Solo. With the death of the former Chief of State, the Alliance was in need of a new leader. They chose Natasi Daala from the former Imperial Remnant, who now acted as part of the Alliance, and even though she was a former Imperial, Daala was able to rise to the role and immediately began to make changes aimed at “healing” after the death of Caedus. Her first order of business? Taking aim at Jedi Grand Master, Luke Skywalker. Daala charged Luke with dereliction of duty, as she blamed him for Jacen’s turn to the Dark Side. He was exiled from Coruscant, and leading the Jedi Order, until he could prove he was not responsible for the choices made by Jacen. If he could prove satisfactorily to the GA Jacen’s choices were his own, he would be given the chance to return.

fate of the jedi outcast full coverThis exile gives Luke the chance to travel the galaxy, and in doing so, learn from many Force traditions Jacen also visited. He is joined by his son, Ben Skywalker, who chooses to follow Luke as a sort of penance for his actions under the guidance of Caedus. Ben still carries a lot of guilt for what happened under Caedus and hopes this trip will be his chance to make everything right again. Their first visit finds them with Kel Dor monks called the Baran Do. The Baran Do are experts at hiding themselves in the Force, and appear to die as they remove themselves from it. They use this ability to hide from the galaxy, fearing another Purge of Force users, like the one the Empire did around 60 years prior. Luke learns this ability from the Kel Dor monks, and even proves there is a sort of conspiracy happening among them, helping free innocent Force practitioners from an overbearing ruler.

On Coruscant, the Jedi are experiencing a new group of troubles without their Grand Master. Kenth Hamner has risen in Luke’s place and already finds his hands full. Two Jedi, Vallin Horn and Seff Hellin, have seemed to go mad in the Force. Vallin Horn especially went on a rampage on Coruscant, necessitating the help of the Jedi, bounty hunters, and Galactic Alliance Guard to bring him in. Horn believes no one around him is real, and he believes he needs to find the “real people”. A medical examination under the guide of the Jedi healers is unable to find anything, as Horn is seemingly cut off from the Force itself.

Whereas the Jedi on Coruscant cannot sense anything in the mad Jedi, Allana Solo, granddaughter of Han and Leia, does sense darkness elsewhere in the galaxy. Leia Organa-Solo, Han Solo, and Lando Calrissian are on Kessel, and they destroy some machines that threaten to break Kessel apart. The heroes fly with Rogue Squadron, bringing the X-Wing fighters into action against another world-ending threat. While they were able to destroy the machines, Allana is unable to shake the feeling of a dark feeling she sensed on the planet. This dark feeling is similar to the one that was sensed by both Luke and Jacen, yet neither of them were able to definitively source where or who it came from.

The darkness is an omen to something even worse… but they don’t know what it is yet. But as more Jedi succumb to the madness, time runs short to find any answers….
