New Star Wars: Aftermath Details, Cover Unveiled

Aftermath

The novel related Star Wars news is strong with the month of March it seems. Shortly after the “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakensinitiative was revealed, the author for the first canon adult novel Aftermath was uncovered thanks to some expert internet sleuthing. Today Jennifer Heddle, senior editor at Lucas Books, not only confirmed Chuck Wendig’s role, but also shared some new and enticing tidbits about the upcoming novel.

Star Wars AftermathAftermath (here’s my review) will be the first of a trilogy and Heddle says, much like the blurb originally uncovered for the novel seems to suggest, it’ll follow adventures of, “…a sweeping new cast of characters, along with a fan favorite from the films. And who knows what other familiar faces will pop up along the way?” Taking place after Return of the Jedi, Aftermath will be the first adult canon novel in the period and will help bridge the gap to The Force Awakens, which after seeing the new movie, Heddle promises, “…you may find that certain names and places in Aftermath have a relevance you never knew–so keep your eyes wide open!” The novel drops on September 4th, the same day as the YA novels revealed last week. It’s uncertain if Wendig will write all three novels in the trilogy.

Chuck Wendig might be mostly new to some Star Wars fans, but he’s definitely not some spring chicken to the world of writing. Since he was first unofficially officially announced as the author, I’ve been following him on Twitter and have checked out his website terribleminds.com and I can honestly say I’m very excited for him to write a Star Wars novel, thanks to his great humor and insightful, if NSFW, thoughts on being a writer.

He originally asked the internet to give him the chance to write a SW novel and the internet certainly pulled through:

He also offered up a suggestion on which of his previous works to check out that seem the most Star Wars-y and it’s currently $3.99 for Kindle:
