SWCE 2016 News Roundup Pt. 3: Ahsoka Untold Tales and Future Filmmaker Discussion Panels Announced

Twilight of the ApprenticeFans of Ahsoka Tano and those interested in the films beyond Rogue One have something to really look forward to at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 (July 15-17), as two newly announced panels look to spill the proverbial Jawa beans on those subjects. First off, Ahsoka’s Untold Tales features Dave Filoni, Pablo Hildalgo, and Ashley Eckstein (the voice of Ahsoka Tano herself!), who will discuss the character’s, “…past, from her discovery by the Jedi Order as a young child, to her adventures in unproduced episodes of The Clone Wars, to the chapters of her life newly revealed in the Ahsoka novel and more!” As someone who went to Celebration Anahiem 2015’s Untold Clone Wars panel, where they revealed tons of new content, this is sure to be an absolute must-see for Ahsoka fans. Secondly, the Future Filmmaker Discussion includes Rian Johnson (director for Ep.VIII), Chris Miller and Phil Lord (directors of the untitled Han Solo film), Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart, and Pablo Hildalgo as they, “…close out the weekend’s festivities on a high note!” Which, even if it’s just title reveals for both projects, would certainly be a high note for me.

As an Ahsoka fan (but really, who isn’t these days?), hearing anything more about her adventures and life is a cannot miss. At SWCA’s Untold Clone Wars, they did share some Ahsoka bits, like her getting used to civilian life and Ahsoka loyalist clone troopers. However, with this panel’s promise to include stuff from the upcoming novel Ahsoka, by E. K. Johnston, I hope they don’t dive too much into the novel’s contents and leave most of its bigger moments untold until it finds itself on bookshelves October 11 (I’m not terribly worried they will, though). The last bit of the panel’s promises, the “more” part, I hope includes some big reveal like what she’ll be up to after the Star Wars Rebels S2 finale or a comic/Netflix TV show/her as the third A Star Wars Story film, but whatever it ends up being doesn’t really matter as long as it’s more Ahsoka Tano.

As mentioned above, the Future Filmmaker’s Discussion has the folks bringing us the next two Star Wars films, but could possibly hold some surprises beyond title announcements (which I’ve theorized a bit about already in the previous SWCE News Roundup) that I hope includes the reveal of the subject of the third A Star Wars Story film (anyone/anything but Boba Fett is a plus in my book) or cast announcement for the Han Solo film. No matter what comes from that panel, it certainly sounds like the best way to end the convention, as it also has the Closing Ceremonies.
