Comic News: Next Revelations One-Shot Announced, More Ronin for Star Wars: Visions Comics

Revelations 2023 announcement

I focus a lot on Star Wars’ comics on the Manor, especially thanks to it introducing my favorite character Doctor Aphra, and now more than ever it’s hard not to think about their future. We’ve been in the six months period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for three years now and are currently in the middle of its fourth crossover event, so a little fatigue has set in, minus for series set outside said era. The announcement of the Star Wars: Visions one-shots was a fresh injection, as is the news we’ll get more backstory for “The Duel,” but where’s a similar freshness for the main stories? Enter 2023’s Revelations one-shot, which looks to tease what’s ahead for 2024’s comics, featuring everyone from Keeve Trennis of the High Republic era, Mace Windu, Princess Leia, and…Grand Admiral Thrawn?! Head below for the intriguing new cover and look at the newest Visions project! Continue reading “Comic News: Next Revelations One-Shot Announced, More Ronin for Star Wars: Visions Comics”

Canon Novel Review by Chris: The High Republic – Tales of Light and Life

high republic tales of light life review mynockmanor1

– Spoiler-free Review –

The High Republic is back, and Tales of Light and Life is leading the charge into Phase III by bringing together the past, present, and future of the initiative into one bound volume. And what a volume it is. If you’re a frequent reader here at the Manor, you know I absolutely loved Phase I of THR: I bought every variant of the novels (so, uh, four editions of Light of the Jedi and The Rising Storm; three editions of The Fallen Star, Out of the Shadows, and Midnight Horizonetc.) and a lot of the comic variants, but Phase II fell rather flat to me. Thankfully, Tales of Light and Life comes in blasters blazing, creating new, exciting possibilities for the initiative and getting me excited again for the future. – Spoiler Review –

After escaping the Starweird and parting with Luke Skywalker on mostly decent terms, Chelli returns to Domina Tagge for her next mission, though she finds herself with more than she bargained for, in more ways than one, in a funny, yet revealing Doctor Aphra #35 (Vol. 2)! Novel Review: From a Certain Point of View – Return of the Jedi

from certain point of view Return of the Jedi review mynockmanor

– Minor Spoilers –

The finale 6 years in the making, From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi closes out one daring, fun, and always exciting initiative to celebrate the 40th anniversary for each original trilogy film. Considering it would be at least 16 years before we’d ever see one again (yes, The Phantom Menace’s 40th is closer than I imagined), if they do one then, this is the end for the foreseeable future, and at least it went out on a high note. Despite 40 different authors across 40 different stories, an overarching theme, consistent quality of tales, mini-trilogy finales amongst the stories, and surprising choices lead to a finale which takes readers back to 1983 in the best way possible. Star Wars Comics October 2023 Solicitations

Star Wars Comics October 2023 Solicitations

At this age in my life, I don’t really expect a ton of gifts in my birthday month, instead looking forward to spending time with friends and family. While I don’t expect gifts, I always hope Star Wars comics will have some for me and October 2023 certainly does, as well as what are totally not gifts and are leaving me shaking in my Manor best robes. And there’s going to be more Lando and Lobot drama that I’m sure my heart can handle anymore?
