Star Wars Comics June 2022 Solicitations

Star-Wars-Comics-June-2022-Solicitations

Compared to last June‘s Star Wars comics solicitations, 2022 might not have anything as big as the War of the Bounty Hunters crossover, in fact we have a break from Qi’ra’s comic trilogy, but it is packed with issues that should interest fans of all eras. June kicks off The Mandalorian‘s adaptation comic, Qui-Gon Jinn guest appearances in the Obi-Wan comic (and maybe Obi-Wan show!), Chelli Aphra has to battle her memories to escape her latest problems, while Charles Soule digs up tales across his Star Wars comics career for a truly spectacular and epic 25th issue for his current Star Wars run. June will once again have Pride Month variants, though they haven’t been revealed yet and I have some hopes Lucasfilm/Marvel will do a little better this time around (especially in light of everything going on with the company). Head below for all the details on Star Wars comics’ June 2022 solicitations! UPDATED 4/13: There’s been a lot of delays at the moment, so you’ll find a few June comics are actually ones from either April or May…I’ve updated the dates for the original June releases below. Drawing Monsters: An Interview with The High Republic’s Artist Ario Anindito

Ario Anindito Interview Artist The High Republic

In terms of Star Wars storytelling, 2021 started off with an engaging, mutli-layered, and exciting new era, one of its most ambitious publishing initiatives yet: The High Republic. Spreading across books, comics, and more, the era brought new heroes, dastardly and scary villains, and a plethora of new designs and concepts in the galaxy far, far away. For the comics side of things, Marvel unleashed The High Republic, a comic series following Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis and her Master Sskeer, as well as other notable Jedi of the era like Avar Kriss, as they dealt with the ravenous Drengir. To help writer Cavan Scott bring the horrors of the Drengir, the righteousness of Keeve and Kriss, Sskeer’s mysterious struggles, and epic-sized action to the pages of the comic, Marvel tapped Ario Anindito…and our eyeballs have never been the same, in the best way possible! This masterful artist has brought scary panels and tender moments to vivid, detailed life, so I reached out to him to understand how he does it, the pressures of building up a new era, and so much more. Head below for our interview with Ario Anindito! Continue reading “Drawing Monsters: An Interview with The High Republic’s Artist Ario Anindito”

Star Wars Comics May 2022 Solicitations

Star-Wars-Comics-May-2022-Solicitations

Look, everyone fights about whether May the Fourth or May 25 is the actual Star Wars Day, but why argue over semantics when we could have a whole month?! Star Wars month?! That’s what May should be, as far as I’m concerned, especially with this excellent list of comics full of potential and surprises, while the premiere of the Obi-Wan Kenobi show happens as well! For May’s 2022 Star Wars comics solicitations, there’s the beginning of the new Obi-Wan comic, tons of characters returning to the lives of Han Solo and Darth Vader, Chelli Aphra is in big trouble and I’m stressing out about it (what’s new!), and so much more! While there’s only a preview for one of the covers (Peach Momoko’s Obi-Wan variant), May also hosts a Japanese Variant Cover spread, which brings well-known Japanese artists to Star Wars for a series of variant covers, so there’s that to look forward to as well! Head below for all the details! UPDATE 4/13: There’s a lot of delays happening at the moment, so many of May’s issues have slipped into June and beyond, with April‘s delays falling into May. Hopefully this doesn’t get any worse. Continue reading “Star Wars Comics May 2022 Solicitations”
