Welcome SignsWhile I’ve written up a few articles already for what I managed to see at Celebration Europe 2016 mid-July, but I’m not going to be able to cover all of what I did and didn’t see in as much detail as normal. However, this article will cover the best of the rest in regards to news and reveals you might have missed (and I didn’t make a separate article for), including the very unsurprising reveal of the young Han Solo actor, some teases from Rian Johnson regarding Ep. Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission Teaser, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Demo Impressions

Sunday’s EA Play Press Conference for E3 2016 didn’t have much to show on the Star Wars gaming front, but Monday night’s Sony PlayStation Conference pulled back a tiny corner of the veil. The above video is the extent of footage released for Criterion’s Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission, which takes you to space (a first in the revamped series) for a VR dogfight against TIEs. In a post over at the PlayStation Blog, it’s revealed to be free (granted you have a PS4 and PS VR). Also during the conference, PlayStation fans were treated with the news they had exclusive (for the night) rights to the first demo of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which I tried out and have my impressions below, including screenshots and clips. EA Provides Minor Updates on Upcoming Star Wars Video Games from Visceral Games, Respawn Entertainment, and More

The above video was released at EA Play’s E3 2016 Press Conference, showing off very brief glimpses into the upcoming future of Star Wars video games from Visceral Games, Respawn Entertainment, Motive, Capital Games, DICE, and Bioware. Shortly after, a blog post at EA.com went live, with a few more details, including a timetable. Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot revealed and what little was shown was mostly underwhelming, but there was some nice teases in regards to both Visceral and Respawn’s games, and I’ve got more details below on all that’s coming. Video Game Review: Star Wars: Battlefront

Star Wars Battlefront

Star Wars Battlefront is a multiplayer focused game with some of the best graphics in Star Wars gaming history, but can it live up to expectations of carrying the fan-favorite moniker, Battlefront? The answer isn’t a solid yes, as it’s an experience that both seems, and eventually is, thin, but there’s no denying no matter how long you play it there’s fun to be had. Canon Novel Review: Star Wars: Battlefront – Twilight Company

Battlefront Twilight Company

Spoiler Review –

Battlefront: Twilight Company is a novel inspired from the video game series, Battlefront, and is written by Alexander Freed. Whatever you do, don’t write off this novel due to it being video game tie-in media, because Freed not only makes Twilight Company work, but also manages to craft a well-written, entertaining novel providing a gritty, unabashed look at the life of a grunt solider fighting in a galaxy far, far away. And until Rogue One releases, for now I’d call Battlefront: Twilight Company the Saving Private Ryan of Star Wars. Yeah, I’m just as surprised to write that sentence as I’m sure you are to read it. Star Wars: Battlefront’s Launch Trailer is Impressive Highlight Reel

Battlefront’s launch trailer captures the one aspect of the game I thoroughly enjoyed in its open beta: it feels, in looks, sounds, and scope, like Star Wars should in video game form. The folks at DICE saved the best for last, laying on the cinematic quality of the game’s graphics in a truly impressive compilation of footage from the upcoming game. Details on the new Heroes and Villains, plus some thoughts (see: hopes) about the DLC plan below. Continue reading “Star Wars: Battlefront’s Launch Trailer is Impressive Highlight Reel”

Star Wars: Battlefront Beta Impressions with Video

Whether it’s the volcanic splashes of Sullust, the icey hallways of Echo Base, or coarse-rough-and-it-gets-everywhere sand of Tatooine, I’m sure we’ve all played a lot of Battlefront over it’s open beta weekend (there was 9 million of us who did!). I have my video impressions for you above (my first video for the site!), while my slightly more detailed thoughts reside below along with some of the latest news and some very entertaining clips other players captured. Star Wars Battlefront Fighter Squadron and Blast Modes Detailed, Trailer

Fighter Squadron

Two new modes have been revealed for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront, joining the several already announced, and they are Blast and Fighter Squadron, the latter of which finally has me truly excited for this revival (besides just the gorgeous graphics). I’m so excited I’ll likely end up playing Fighter Squadron so much you’ll either be lucky to see me flying your wing or be deathly afraid of me as I get you in my sights. Probably. Hopefully.
