Canon Novel Review: Galaxy’s Edge – Black Spire

Black Spire

Spoiler Review –

Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire, written by Delilah S. Dawson, is the last big park tie-in content, doing the heavy work of setting up how and why Vi Moraldi and the Resistance are facing off with Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and the First Order on a little backwater planet Batuu that you, dear reader, can visit. Unfortunately, in doing so, the novel forgoes a lot of opportunities and comes up short in overall entertainment. Continue reading “Canon Novel Review: Galaxy’s Edge – Black Spire”

Galaxy’s Edge Publishing Programming Gives all Fans a Chance to Visit

Galaxys Edge Publishing Announced

Canon Comic Review: Star Wars Adventures – Forces of Destiny (#1-5)

Star Wars Adventures Forces of Destiny v3
Elsa Charretier Variant Covers

When it was first announced the younger marketed Star Wars Adventures comics from IDW would have a Forces of Destiny tie-in miniseries, a show itself great for the same audience the comic reached, it felt like a match made in Cloud City. Now that all five issues of the female-centric miniseries have released, all written by female creatives, I can honestly say it belongs among the clouds, despite a few minor missteps that won’t really matter to core readers of the event series. Novel Review: From a Certain Point of View – Star Wars

Star Wars From a Certain Point of View

Minor Spoiler Review –

There have been short story collections in the Star Wars universe before, but nothing quite like this! From a Certain Point of View gathers together 43 authors for 40 stories giving us new perspectives on Episode IV: A New Hope, as a celebration of the film’s 40th Anniversary (bonus: all the author proceeds go to the charity First Book!). In short, the stories within had me crying, laughing, and filled me up with joyous wonder, much like A New Hope did and continues to do 40 years later, which is a pretty fitting way to celebrate the 40th anniversary, if you ask me! Canon Novel Review: Phasma

Phasma (novel)

Spoiler Review –

Phasma, by Delilah S. Dawson, is part of the “Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi” initiative, taking place only a few years prior to The Force Awakens. Dawson weaves together two entertaining and engaging tales, set 10 years apart, which reveal and strengthen the fearsome presence of Captain Phasma that TFA wasn’t really able to do, now making the character one to watch out for in The Last Jedi. Canon Short Story Review: Star Wars: The Perfect Weapon

The Perfect Weapon

Spoiler Review –

Star Wars: The Perfect Weapon is a short story that is part of the “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” written by Delilah S. Dawson, and centers on spy-for-hire Bazine Netal and her latest mission. Overall, The Perfect Weapon is an enjoyable spy-fi romp in the Star Wars universe, with a strong central character in Bazine, but it tends to be predictable thanks to its over-reliance on spy genre tropes (though that same reliance is what makes it enjoyable in the first place).
