I haven’t been reviewing much of IDW’s Star Wars Adventures because they aren’t really for me, thus I feel like I’d not have anything worthwhile to add to the conversation. I read them and enjoy them, don’t get me wrong, and stuff like the Forces of Destiny miniseries or the recanonization of Jaxxon has been too intriguing not to cover. Star Wars Comics October 2018 Solicitations

At first glance, October’s comics might look a little slim, but that’s only because Marvel is having one of it’s quietest months since launching. But IDW is here to pick up the slack, and with one helluva offering: a horror-anthology called Tales from Vader’s Castle. It’s been quiet on the new novel and comic fronts for quite some time, especially once it was revealed 3 comics would be ending in September and the only known novels were Thrawn: Alliances and the Solo adaptation. But SDCC 2018’s publishing panel was a Hutt’s feast of new announcements, from a LONG overdue Padmé novel, Queen’s Shadow, a Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon novel from lauded author Claudia Gray, while Marvel has a new maxiseries focusing on heroes and villains from across the saga, IDW brings the scares for October with Tales from Vader’s Castle, and more! Star Wars Comics September 2018 Solicitations

September’s solicitations for Star Wars comics are in and while it sure seems to be an exciting month, from Vader visiting the place of his birth, Aphra finding herself in the crosshairs of multiple old foes, to plenty of “Hope” dying for the heroes of the Rebellion as the Empire starts to strike back, it’s also a sad month for the comics. Two miniseries, the new Lando and The Last Jedi adaptation, come to an end, but the biggest blow is Poe Dameron‘s adventures coming to a close for good. Canon Comic Review: IDW’s Star Wars Adventures Vol 1: Heroes of the Galaxy (Issues #1-2)

At April’s Celebration Orlando this year, IDW announced they’d be bringing all-ages Star Wars comics to the market place and now we have Star Wars Adventures! The series is as canon as Marvel’s comics are and set to contain, you guessed it, adventures across time and space of the Star Wars galaxy. Volume 1: Heroes of the Galaxy is made up of a two-part main tale about Rey during her days on Jakku and some “Tales from Wild Space” featuring Obi-Wan and Evaan Veraline, and already it’s clear SW Adventures is a product anyone can find joy in.
