Darth Vader #17 brings some interesting life to “The Shu-Torun War,” by showing Vader up to his usual blunt violence and ratcheting up the intrigue with various players moving behind the scenes for their own gains (and Vader’s death). After Darth Vader’s deadly show of force and Force prowess in the crossover event, Vader Down, he’s back in his own comic series with a new arc, “The Shu-Torun War.” Darth Vader #16 brings back the thinking man’s Vader the series has been so well known (and loved) for, while setting him up for a crash course with his biggest and most threatening rivals yet. It all comes down to this: Commander Karbin has shown his hand, intending to take out the rebels and Vader in one fell swoop. Han’s life is on the line. Luke is captured (again) by the Imperials. Aphra is on Vader’s naughty-list. And Leia is facing the biggest decision of her life. Darth Vader #15, part 6 of the Vader Down crossover event, wraps it all up in a grand, but somewhat unsurprising ending, while revealing Vader Down had just as big a role for Leia as it did Vader. Darth Vader #14, part 4 of Vader Down, is an entertaining issue where everyone gets put into place for the last two issues of this crossover event. Darth Vader #13 is part 2 of the crossover event between it and the Star Wars series called Vader Down. With Vader stranded on Vrogas Vas, surrounded by rebels and with more on the way, he proves why he’s a Dark Lord of the Sith by not letting anything stand in the way of him reaching his son, who’s also stranded on the planet.
