Gotham Review: “Everyone Has a Cobblepot”

Gotham

Spoiler Review –

Gotham slams on the brakes after the entertaining “Red Hood,” trading down for “Everyone Has a Cobblepot” which raises a whole lot of questions that made me realize the answers aren’t really worth it.

I probably should’ve done this more formally back when I called it quits with the show after its umpteenth break during the first season, but I won’t be reviewing this series anymore. I had been holding out hope the show would get better for the second season and the creative team behind it were saying all the right things, but the S2 premiere was just more of the same. Sure, there’s some promise for better things ahead in it so I’ll be tuning in, but this is more in regards to my own personal time constraints and my sanity. Sorry and thanks for checking out Mynock Manor for details on Gotham and I seriously hope the show hits its stride soon. Gotham Review: “Red Hood”

Gotham

Spoiler Review –

Gotham is hit by a string of robberies from the Red Hood Gang, while an ominous figure from Alfred’s past shows up at the Manor, Mooney’s situation really escalates, and Penguin might just have found a friend in Butch. By embracing its comic book heritage, Gotham actually was a lot of fun this week in “Red Hood.”

Gotham Review: “The Blind Fortune Teller”

Gotham

Spoiler Review –

A family feud fight at a circus ruins Gordon’s date and continually gets in the way of his chances at getting laid until he faces off with a Joker. That’s literally the nitty gritty of another so-so Gotham episode, “The Blind Fortune Teller.”

Gotham Review: “The Scarecrow”

Gotham

Spoiler Review

“The Scarecrow” was a better episode than “The Fearsome Dr. Crane” because it did everything “Fearsome” refused to do for building up the Crane family. Even though it had some awkward dating material, Mooney and Fish continued to hold Gotham up this week.

Gotham Review: “The Fearsome Dr. Crane”

Gotham

Spoiler Review –

In “The Fearsome Dr. Crane,” everyone’s trying the dating game while people die experiencing their greatest fears and somehow those two threads weren’t connected. But with Gordon unfortunately pulling off the throttle this week and the overload of characters and plotlines returns, Gotham settles back into it’s more procedural and unfocused ways.

Gotham Review: “Welcome Back, Jim Gordon”

Gotham

– Spoiler Review

I thought this episode of Gotham should’ve been called “Welcome Back, Bruce Wayne,” since he’s been absent after the midseason finale, but I’m happy it wasn’t. Instead “Welcome Back, Jim Gordon,” is fitting enough because Bruce’s part wasn’t entertaining, while the parts involving the new gun-ho Gordon and Fish Mooney’s escape from captivity certainly were. Gotham continues to be better, but not by much.

Gotham Review: “What the Little Bird Told Him”

Gotham

– Spoiler Review –

Functioning more like “Spirit of the Goat,” “What the Little Bird Told Him” tried to have fun with its comic-book ties and origins and mostly succeeded, all the while pushing along big mob story plot points sooner than expected and showing Gordon’s finally ready to step up his game. It’s been awhile, but I can honestly say I enjoyed this week’s Gotham.

Gotham Review: “Rogues’ Gallery”

Gotham

– Spoiler Review –

During Gotham‘s winter break, I began to wonder if I had been too hard on the show so far. I kept looking back at “Lovecraft,” the midseason finale, and finding myself enjoying some of the things it set up, mainly Gordon’s new job at Arkham Asylum and Mooney possibly putting in a bigger push to overthrow Falcone. That meant I was going into “Rogues’ Gallery” with a positive attitude for the first time since the pilot and it’s second episode, but I can’t say I was completely able to keep it by the end of the hour.

Gotham Review: “Lovecraft”

Lovecraft, Gotham

– Spoiler Review –

As far as a fall finale goes, “Lovecraft” was at least more entertaining than most previous episodes of Gotham, but it really lacked a big moment to convince viewers to return or a hint at how things could change for the better upon it’s return from a winter break.

Gotham Review: “Harvey Dent”

Harvey Dent

– Spoiler Review –

In a way, the episode “Harvey Dent” is much like the titular character’s alter-ego Two Face, as Gotham’s ugly side shows itself too strongly, despite having an entertaining case for Gordon and Bullock and some fun interactions between Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne.
