With the all-ages Hyperspace Stories, a 12-issue maxiseries from the minds of Cecil Castellucci, Amanda Deibert, and Michael Moreci, Dark Horse marks their first new entry in Star Wars comics in nearly a decade. Issue #1, written by Dieibert with art by Lucas Marangon kicks things off in the prequel era, as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Padmé Amidala navigate a tricky situation in diplomacy. With less than a week before Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022, here are the August Star Wars comics solicitations, which include the beginning of Dark Horse’s return to the Saga with their all-ages input! Most of the issues in the solicitations will actually hit in August, as it seems the delays are back under control for now, but a few issues from prior months are scheduled to come out in August 2022 as well, so I’ve made sure to reference them too. Otherwise, feast your harvest-season eyes on T’onga’s final bid to save Cadeliah from Qi’ra’s Crimson Dawn, the next glimpse of Obi-Wan’s past, Chewie behind bars (again, but like can’t he just bend them?), and Darth Vader facing his most feared enemy…sand??!!? It’s been 6 months since the announcement Dark Horse would return to publish Star Wars comics and now we have the first details on their non-The High Republic content! Dark Horse is focusing on all-ages comics, like IDW did from 2017-2021, with two series: 1) Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories, essentially their take on IDW’s Star Wars Adventures line, as it’s an anthology series set in all different eras on the timeline. 2) Tales from the Rancor Pit, a new take on the horror anthology goodness IDW cooked up with their Vader’s Castle series. These two join the already announced The High Republic – Quest of the Jedi, though while that’s not out until October or later, these should be out in the summer!
