Explosive, Spoilery Trailer for Second Half of Star Wars Rebels’ Season 2

It’s okay if your jaw hit the floor this afternoon after watching the latest Star Wars Rebels trailer because there are a ton of surprising and exciting things within its 3 minutes: links to The Force Awakens, return of several more The Clone Wars characters, Jedi and/or Sith Temples, and of course the fateful meeting of Ahsoka and Darth Vader. Anthony Breznican of EW spoke with Dave Filoni at length about the trailer’s contents and below I’ve included my thoughts, theories, and excerpts from the interview. Photo Courtesy of LucasfilmStar Wars Rebels’ second season returns from its winter break with the first (and only) appearance of Princess Leia for the show’s sophomore season. “A Princess on Lothal,” airing January 20th at 8pm CST on Disney XD, features everyone’s favorite royalty doing what she does best: playing the dutiful Empire Senator while being a resourceful rebellion spy like it’s nobody’s business. There’s a clip and more information below the cut. Continue reading “Princess Leia Debuts in Star Wars Rebels’ January 2016 Return”

Star Wars Rebels Review: “Legacy”

Star Wars Rebels Legacy

Spoiler Review –

Star Wars Rebels‘ mid-season finale, “Legacy,” is an interesting episode: it’s certainly more introspective and emotional than most finales on TV these days, but it has some tonal inconsistencies as it wraps up the hanging story thread regarding Ezra’s parents and deals with diminishing the Rebellion’s sense of safety as the Empire forces them to flee yet another base. Star Wars Rebels Review: “The Future of the Force”

The Future of the Force

Spoiler Review –

The Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother Inquisitors return, carrying out a dastardly plan first seen in a The Clone Wars episode but modified to give us our (possibly) first big hint about how the Inquisitors are ‘made.’ Ezra, Kanan, and Zeb manage to get in the way, but they have to call in an audible: Ahsoka Tano returns in a big way in Star War Rebels‘, “The Future of the Force.” Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “The Future of the Force””

Star Wars Rebels Review: “Stealth Strike”

Stealth Strike

Spoiler Review –

The Interdictor cruiser graces the screen for the first time in Star Wars Rebels‘ “Stealth Strike,” an expertly paced and thoroughly enjoyable episode where Ezra’s burgeoning skills become more progressively clear, while Kanan and Captain Rex find themselves finally resolving their issues with one another. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “Stealth Strike””

Star Wars Rebels Review: “Blood Sisters”

Blood Sisters

Spoiler Review –

Sabine Wren takes center stage in Star Wars Rebels‘ “Blood Sisters,” where a person from her past gets in the way of a simple courier mission in the present. After having two weeks in a row focusing on the female characters of the series, I can honestly say both episode have been among the season’s (and series’) best, with “Blood Sisters” taking the jogan fruit out of the two. Find out why in my review. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “Blood Sisters””

Star Wars Rebels Review: “Wings of the Master”

Wings of the Master

Spoiler Review –

While “Wings of the Master” is another bottle episode, having Star Wars Rebels finally focus on the under-utilized Hera Syndulla makes it far better than last weeks (which I did enjoy) and proves once and for all (again) that she’s just as interesting as people who can levitate things with their minds/swing fancy lazer-swords around. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “Wings of the Master””

Star Wars Rebels Review: “Brothers of the Broken Horn”

Brothers of the Broken Horn

Spoiler Review –

“Brothers of the Broken Horn,” brings back my second favorite The Clone Wars character, Hondo Ohnaka, in a style befitting the once (and hopefully future) pirate king. As thoroughly entertaining, hilarious, and exciting as the episode may be, it certainly reiterates an issue I had upon viewing “The Lost Commanders” only a few episodes ago on Star Wars Rebels: how I thought bottle episodes were going to be a thing of the past. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “Brothers of the Broken Horn””

Star Wars Rebels Review: “Always Two There Are”

Always Two There Are

Spoiler Review —

What initially starts off seeming like another fun and breezy episode like “Fighter Flight,” from S1, “Always Two There Are,” quickly reveals its much darker and frightening secrets: the introduction of the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “Always Two There Are””

Star Wars Rebels Review: “Relics of the Old Republic”

Relics of the Old Republic

Spoiler Review —

In Star Wars Rebels‘ “Relics of the Old Republic,” the Imperials have arrived and the rebels make a stand alongside the aging clones in a tense battle of slow moving tanks, where only trust and teamwork will save the day for everyone. Tense and thoughtful, “Relics” caps off a solid two part opening for the season proper. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Review: “Relics of the Old Republic””
