Out the Door Toys: A Collector’s Friend (And One I Met at SWCA 2015)

Out the Door ToysStar Wars Celebration Anaheim was a great place to make friends and meet people from all over the world, no matter their individual interests and hobbies. Thanks to layover woes, I managed to make a friend in Darren, who hails from Canada and runs Out the Door Toys, which, “Specializ(es) in picking & flipping vintage toys, video games, comic books & other collectibles.” There’s been some great Star Wars grabs on his store, but he caters to all different types of collectors with vintage Marvel comics, TMNT toys, or even band tour shirts. He also does monthly giveaways (the May one is a Age of Ultron comic and it only lasts till May 31st), so you can nab some of his special merchandise for free by simply liking and commenting on a post; Can’t really go wrong there! Cosplay Gallery and Celebrity Sightings (SWCA 2015)

Battle

If there’s one thing we can all agree on that makes any con going experience enjoyable, it’s the fans that come out and cosplay for everyone to see. I followed the important steps outlined to get pictures (when I could) and below is my gallery of cosplay seen and enjoyed at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2015, along with a few shots with celebrities (mostly) within the Star Wars realm. Rancho Obi-Wan Experience Visit (SWCA 2015)

Rancho Obi-Wan Experience SWCA 2015

Rancho Obi-Wan is a Star Wars fan’s mecca for amazing, wacky, and unique memorabilia and while I’ve yet to go, attending Star Wars Celebration Anaheim allowed myself and others a chance to get a little taste of Steve Sansweet’s stunning collection. It’s been on my Star Wars bucket list for awhile now and after the small exhibit on the Celebration floor, it’ll be one of the items I can not miss from the list. But before you or I make that journey, here are a few shots of what was brought to SWCA and a few thoughts on the material. Continue reading “Rancho Obi-Wan Experience Visit (SWCA 2015)”

Del Rey Panel, TFA Novelization, Sampler Thoughts (SWCA 2015)

The Del Rey Panel

Del Rey, the wonderful folks who have been making Star Wars adult fiction novels for quite a number of years now, held a panel talking about the present and future of their works, including tidbits on the “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens” initiative and the surprise TFA novelization author. They also handed out a Sampler to attendees with excerpts from a few current and upcoming works and my thoughts on that content and the panel are below. Continue reading “Del Rey Panel, TFA Novelization, Sampler Thoughts (SWCA 2015)”

Battlefront Trailer, Gameplay Demo, Battle of Jakku DLC, and Novel Details (SWCA 2015)

By now it’s pretty likely you’ve already seen the Battlefront trailer, though not as likely as The Force Awakens or Star Wars Rebels Season 2 trailers, but definitely likely. Once you’re done soaking in the lush forest moon of Endor graphics from the trailer, I have details on the behind closed doors gameplay demo on the show floor, the new information released about the game, the Battle of Jakku DLC pack, and details on the tie-in novel Star Wars: Battlefront: Twilight Company. New Star Wars Anthology Series: Rogue One Details Revealed (SWCA 2015)

Rogue One Panel

Only Gareth Edwards showed up to the spin-off film panel, but some notable guests joined him like Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart, John Knoll, and Pablo Hildalgo hosted. Not only did they have a short teaser prepared, but they revealed the spin-offs were to be branded the Star Wars Anthology Series (and now re-branded “A Star Wars Story”), there was a summary of the plot of Rogue One, possible in-universe connections, the genesis behind the idea, and key members of the crew. Oh, and that Edwards visited the Tunisia sets for his 30th birthday. Yes, it was a surprisingly busy panel. Continue reading “New Star Wars Anthology Series: Rogue One Details Revealed (SWCA 2015)”

Star Wars Rebels Season Two Premiere Review “The Siege of Lothal”

Star Wars Rebels Season 2 The Siege of Lothal

Spoiler Free and Spoiler Filled Reviews Within

The season two premiere, which is an one-hour movie event, somehow finds a way to build off the hype generated by the pulse-pounding trailer while setting up the new tone and larger focus. This review of “The Siege of Lothal” will start off with a completely spoiler-free version and after some very clearly marked warnings/a picture, a full spoiler review till end. But in short, it’s going to be really hard to wait until the rest of the season starts to air in the fall. Continue reading “Star Wars Rebels Season Two Premiere Review “The Siege of Lothal””

Star Wars Rebels Panel and Press Conference Impressions (SWCA 2015)

Done watching the trailer yet? I don’t blame you if you want to watch it a few more times because it’s truly electrifying. And here I thought nothing could match the excitement I felt after The Force Awakens teaser, but this certainly did the job and did it well. But, if you haven’t watched the live-stream of the panel or saw video of the press conference yet, those details and more are below, with stuff like why Kanan might not like seeing Rex and what character Sarah Michelle Geller already (see: actually didn’t) played in Rebels (also includes gallery). The Untold Clone Wars Panel Impressions (SWCA 2015)

The Untold Clone Wars Panel SWCAFans of The Clone Wars (one of them being me) were in for a treat when Pablo Hildalgo and Dave Filoni got to show off a lot of unseen concept art and clips, even if they weren’t really supposed to. They teased the Bad Batch arcs, Wookiee related plans, Cad Bane and Boba Fett on Tatooine, and some stuff from the 8 episodes the upcoming novel Dark Disciple is based off of, and some Ahsoka Tano shenanigans. Revenge of the Sith 3D Screening Impressions (SWCA 2015)

Revenge of the Sith 3D

Overall, The Phantom Menace 3D conversion left a bad taste in my mouth, but since a limited showing of Attack of the Clones 3D showed a marked improvement, I actually started to get excited about a Revenge of the Sith 3D conversion. After seeing it Friday evening at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, I can confidently say it was extremely solid, with a few stand out moments, but it still had the minor setback all conversions have.
