Peak Inside The High Republic – The Monster of Temple Peak and Meet Ty Yorrick

The second wave of content for The High Republic’s Phase I starts in June with the second adult novel, The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott. One of the main characters will be former Jedi turned monster hunter/gun-for-hire Ty Yorrick and today the official site offered new details on her, from a character video to the first look at her upcoming graphic novel from IDW, The Monster of Temple Peak due in August. Check out why she’s already becoming a favorite below!

We first met Ty Yorrick during The Rising Storm’s announcement, and we know she’ll also star in Race to Crashpoint Tower (with both novels out June 29) and later learned of the graphic novel in THR launch livestream. I was concerned about The Monster of Temple Peak after last week’s new details on the upcoming wave of content left it out, so I was extremely happy for This Week! In Star Wars to ease my worries. Out in August this year from IDW, it will explore Yorrick’s mysterious past as it releases in 4 epic-issued monthly issues, which stretches the term Graphic Novel a bit, but I’m just glad it’s coming and Yorrick is the main character.

On the official site’s blog, writer Cavan Scott teases Yorrick’s time with the Jedi before leaving will somehow tie into teases and hints hidden in his first original audio drama, Dooku: Jedi Lost. Of the many teases within, one has stood out the most: Master Trennis is among the Jedi’s Lost Twenty, Jedi who have left the Order for a variety of reasons, and there just so happens to be a Keeve Trennis in Scott’s The High Republic comic for Marvel. Could whatever happens to Yorrick, and everything she does next, grow to affected Keeve as well, leading to her leaving the Order too? It’s an interesting thought and only serves to deepen and broaden the potential story of this Trennis’ departure. Beyond that, the Characters of the High Republic video for Yorrick mentions above that whatever happened when she left, the Jedi even question if she was still alive or not; She definitely has quite the story to be told! Also, her two droids, one that has a canine look/temperament and the chiding protocol droid should offer tons of humor and fun beyond her wild profession.

Beyond the growing enigma around Ty Yorrick, the glance at two of Rachael Stott’s pages for The Monster of Temple Peak delight, from the close-up of the unique design of her lightsaber and the big, ferocious gundark, as Stott’s crisp, detailed, and vibrant style certainly looks to make for an excellent read. I can’t wait to see and explore more of her work in the upcoming issues. You’ll find our reviews here once it releases!
