The Rise of Skywalker News, Clips, TV Spots, and More Round Up

We’re less than a month from The Rise of Skywalker now, but it’s hard for the internet to talk about anything other than Baby Yoda right now, though Lucasfilm is trying its best to refocus us all onto the end of the Skywalker Saga: from a few TV spots (like the one above), character posters, a high-velocity clip, and more, it’s getting hard not to think about the end.

Between the TV spot at the top of the article “End” and the one above “Fate,” there isn’t a ton of new footage, but they do include our first looks at Sith troopers in action, reiterates Threepio’s importance to the narrative, has a whole mood of Rey jumping out into space to board the Falcon, and generally keeps the feeling up regarding both the epic scale of the film and its likely character focus.

But the clip above is the most exciting bit of footage, for me at least, as it just has an energy a trailer can’t capture…and it has some wonderful banter between our heroes I can’t wait to have more. According to J.J. Abrams in his Good Morning America interview, the chase in this clip is early in the film. Also in the interview, he talks about a moment where one of the TROS scripts got up on Ebay! No details on how they got it back, they did!

And if you wanted to cry, Lucasfilm released this nifty little video looking at Star Wars and its impact on pop culture over these past 40 years.

While I’m not a big fan of character posters overall, I prefer the theatrical posters, we got a plethora of them for TROS and I actually kind of like these ones.

There’s also going to be no shortage of interviews and cover stories regarding the film in these final 25 days. There was the EW story a few weeks back (with some vibrant new photos), then Rolling Stone had their feature plus an interview with Kathleen Kennedy (which just reaffirms they are simply working out what to do next, not that they are in crisis mode as some clickbate sites would like you to think), while Empire Magazine has been doling out their story as well recently (with photos of Sith troopersZorii Blissour heroes in a cave, and how the original Ep. IX writer/director Colin Trevorrow asked Rian Johnson to include Rey and Poe meeting, and more!). And if you’re on Twitter, and want to stay up to date much more quickly than my round-up here, make sure you follow Twitter user Sleemo, who’s been doing the Force’s work at a stunning pace and speed for a while now by bringing forth all the news and interviews on Star Wars coverage! She even found some international interviews recently that heavily hint Finn/Rey won’t be happening.

Lastly, here’s the cover for the novelization, which borrows itself from the D23 poster, due out in March 2020. It’s written by Rae Carson.
