Poe Dameron #29

– Spoiler Review –

The Poe Dameron series marches towards its grand finale with issue #29, setting the stage for a less than gleeful ending, the exact opposite way this series started two years ago. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #29”

Canon Young Adult Novel Review: Most Wanted

Most Wanted Review

– Spoiler Review –

Most Wanted, written by Rae Carson, is a young adult novel focusing on Han Solo and Qi’ra prior to the events of Solo: A Star Wars Story. It’s a well-written, fast paced book that gives Qi’ra her due, diving deep into what makes her tick, while focusing more on the idealistic younger Han than the film ever did. Ahch-To Or Bust: The Mynocks’ Adventure Across Ireland

Ahch-To Or Bust The Mynocks Adventure to Ireland

Even drenched from the ocean’s spray, nothing could drown out my enthusiasm as we boated out into the wild sea. Swelling in my ears was “Rey’s Theme,” along with “Jedi Steps,” though no one was playing the tunes aloud. Alongside me, besides a handful of strangers and the driver, were two of my best friends, found at a Star Wars convention three years prior. On the horizon, an ancient, mysterious island, Skellig Michael, which I’ve only seen in my dreams (and a film or two), the culmination of our own long and nearly 100% cancelled journey to Ahch-To. Here’s the tale of the Mynocks’ Adventure to Ireland: Ahch-To or Bust. Continue reading “Ahch-To Or Bust: The Mynocks’ Adventure Across Ireland”

Canon Comic Review: Lando – Double or Nothing #2

Lando Double or Nothing #2

– Spoiler Review –

Lando – Double or Nothing #2 retains the fun and pace of the opening issue, but it makes Lando talk a little too much, something I never thought I’d hear myself say/see myself write. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Lando – Double or Nothing #2”

Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #28

Poe Dameron #28

Poe Dameron issue #28 continues to show how “The Awakening” arc is a breath of fresh air for the series, as it starts with a surprising, but tasteful twist and ends with a cliffhanger which will keep you asking for more. And this is after learning the series will officially end in September! Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Poe Dameron #28”

Canon Comic Review: Lando – Double or Nothing #1

Lando Double or Nothing #1

– Spoiler Review –

Lando – Double or Nothing issue #1, written by Rodney Barnes, with art from Paolo Villanelli and Andres Mossa, is the beginning of a 5-issue miniseries focusing on a Lando and L3 adventure pre-Solo: A Star Wars Story. If the rest of the mini can keep the sense of fun and pitch-perfect Lando, readers could be in for quite the treat. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Lando – Double or Nothing #1”

Movie Review: Solo – A Star Wars Story

Solo A Star Wars Story Review 1

— Spoiler-Free and Spoiler-Filled Reviews —

Solo: A Star Wars Story, written by Jon and Lawrence Kasdan, directed by Ron Howard, is an exciting, fun, adventure romp across the seedier parts of the galaxy, with a great cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich owning the role, a few pleasant surprises, and delightful winks and nods to other parts of the saga. It ends up being hampered by a rough beginning and some questionable decisions which affect investment, but despite its shortcomings, overall it can still be quite enjoyable.
