Star Wars New York Comic Con 2014 Plans

NYCC 2014

New York Comic Con 2014 takes place from October 9-12 and will be packed with almost as much goodies as SDCC. Revealed so far on the mobile app, there’ll be a panel for Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive Daredevil (including the full cast), a look at the shrouded-in-much-secrecy Tomorrowland from Disney, and Constantine and Gotham panels to say the least. On top of those, Star Wars is guaranteed to have its presence felt in at least three panels. Continue reading “Star Wars New York Comic Con 2014 Plans”

Canon Novel Review: Star Wars: A New Dawn

Star Wars A New Dawn

And it begins. Announced earlier this year, we all found out that the Star Wars Expanded Universe (EU) of old was to be rolled over into Legends to make way for a unified story world and canonical EU. Along with the announcement came the reveal of four new books to herald in the new era, starting with John Jackson Miller’s Star Wars: A New Dawn. With a title that functions both as a signifier for this new era and a link to the plot, A New Dawn (AND) uncovers how the two main characters, Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla from the upcoming Star Wars Rebels, first meet while showing us the Empire’s growing grasp on the galaxy far far away. And while the action stays relatively small, much like Miller’s excellent Legends novel Kenobi, the characters are strongly written within a finely plotted novel making A New Dawn a very entertaining read for both old and new Star Wars readers.

Star Wars Rebels Shorts: 4-Part First Episode

Before Star Wars Rebels aired at the beginning of October, a series of 4 shorts introducing the characters of the show aired on Disney XD and the Star Wars YouTube page. Interestingly, these clips aren’t really part of the show, but together they make up the first episode of the series. The one hour premiere Spark of Rebellion is two episodes long, which leaves 13 episodes for the first season. The clip above introduces us a little bit more to the artful Mando, Sabine Wren, whose penchant for artful destruction should lead to some fun scenes for the series. Head below for the rest!

Sneak Peek of First 7 Minutes of Star Wars Rebels

Look, I could on and on about how much Star Wars Rebels feels like Star Wars just from the above 7 minutes. Whether it be the sound effects (those speeders take me back to Endor’s forests), the humor, the visuals (Star Destroyer soaring over Lothal was stunning), or the score (anyone else gets chills when part of the Force theme played over Ezra noticing Kanan?) but suffice it to say, it all brings back a classic and breathtaking feeling. By the time you’re done watching it, you’ll understand what I’m talking about. Everyone was raving on about Rebels after the one-hour premiere was shown at SDCC last month and I can already see why…and it’s only the first 7 minutes! October can’t come soon enough.

Extended Star Wars Rebels Trailer

After months of clips and brief teasers, a full length trailer for the upcoming Star Wars Rebels hit early Tuesday morning. With the SDCC panel this Thursday I would’ve thought this was to be unveiled there, so does this mean they have a lot left up their sleeves for the panel or they just wanted to give the cast more time to talk? Either way, we’ve got this great first extended look at the series to hold us over until then.

Jason Isaacs Joins Star Wars Rebels As The Inquisitor

Having been revealed at NYCC in October last year, the Inquisitor hasn’t had his proper introduction video like all the other Star Wars Rebels characters so far.
