Did you somehow miss that Disney felt it was okay to attack our rights to Free Speech, just because the current fascist government running America and the conservative companies running local networks asked loudly and angrily enough? Well, it seems they are both hoping you did miss it or at least will totally forget (sorry, marketing team), as they unveiled the first public trailer for May 2026’s The Mandalorian and Grogu in what can only feel like an attempt at a distraction from the fact they still haven’t reinstated Jimmy Kimmel or decided to double down on their fascist concessions. UPDATE: Hours later, they announced the return of Jimmy Kimmel, so the boycotts really do work, folks!! Whether they did it for the greater good or maybe because they’re hiking prices again, who will ever say? UPDATE END Check out the full pulpy poster, and my brief thoughts, below.
Maybe it’s the whole situation, maybe it’s what’s in the trailer, or a bit of both, but this doesn’t quite land for me. There’s things in here I think I’ll like, from more Grogu antics, him hanging out with the Anzellans more, Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios kicking buckethead butt, to all the crazy creatures, but the return of the Razorcrest (2.0) and very disconnected feeling of everything we’re seeing doesn’t combat the whole ‘boys with toys’ attitude Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni champion and has brought down The Mandalorian series more and more each season. Either way, I like the poster, the retro styling helps with the still meh-inducing title. The Mandalorian and Grogu is out May 22, 2026.
