The High Republic’s first Phase, Light of the Jedi, comes to a close starting this January with the release of its Wave III material. It all begins with Claudia Gray’s The Fallen Star, the third adult novel, out January 4, followed by Daniel José Older’s Midnight Horizon on February 1, and Justina Ireland’s Mission to Disaster on March 1 (delayed from January). The Fallen Star’s first excerpt dropped this week, catching fans up with Bell Zettifar after the death of Loden Greatstorm in The Rising Storm, while the second excerpt from Mission to Disaster sees what scientific invention Avon Starros is up to, though Ireland revealed its delay to Feb 1. Like the previous book releases, there are some special editions to enjoy from different retailers. The big one is Out of Print’s The Fallen Star, which has another brilliant cover by Jama Jurabaev and a beanie, which is very necessary here in Wisconsin when this book releases; the pre-order is live and these have sold out in the past, so get yours now if you want one! The Barnes & Noble edition comes with Phil Noto’s anxiety-inducing poster, while Older’s Midnight Horizon Wal-Mart exclusive cover features Zeen Mrala from The High Republic Adventures, Reath Silas, and Ram Jomaram from Older’s Race to Crashpoint Tower and THRA. Elsewhere, get a signed Mission to Disaster from Ireland’s local shop, Caprichos Books.
And lastly, the audiobook Tempest Runner by Cavan Scott, will get its scriptbook release on March 1, which should be a good time to jump back in with whatever goes down between Avar Kriss and Lourna Dee. Here’s the cover:
