It doesn’t seem possible that we’re already at the 10th Anniversary of Rogue One‘s release, but maybe it’s because we just finished Andor last year? Or I don’t want to admit the passage of time? Either way, Marvel isn’t letting us forget it’s time to celebrate, as they have put together a series of one-shots focusing on key characters, like Cassian Andor, Jyn Erso, and even Chirrut & Baze, which kicks off this May! In other Marvel news, we have our first glimpse at the one and only Women’s History Month variant cover for 2026, done by a new to Star Wars artist, Elena Casagrande! Coincidence the upcoming Rogue One comics only has one marginalized creative? Yes, but not a surprise when it comes to comics. Anyways, head below for the first details on all 5 Rogue One issues, several covers for it, and the preliminary Women’s History Month cover!
Since there’s only one this year, given Marvel went cancel happy as part of its new ‘strategy’ for better sales, how about we start with Elena Casagrande’s Women’s History Month 2026 Variant Cover (not final version). Casagrande hasn’t drawn for the series of covers before and it actually features two female characters who have never been in the series either: Vernestra Rwoh, The Acolyte edition, and Padmé Amidala! That second one sounds crazy, like how could she never have made a cover before, but it’s usually been Sabé, while I love to see more Vern… I mean, Vernestra!! Rey, Leia, and Ahsoka all return to the series of covers, but hey, new artist and some new characters, not too shabby, yet it’s still a damn shame it’s ONLY ONE COVER. Hopefully in 2027, we’ll have more than one issue coming out so there can be MORE covers and more artists and more characters! You can grab the cover when it launches with Shadow of Maul #1, the opening issue of the Maul: Shadow Lord prequel comic, on March 4! UPDATE 3/7/2026: I’ve uploaded the final version of the cover, which didn’t look to have any variances in art, just that the comic’s logo was smaller and other trade dressings were added.
As for the Rogue One comics, they are boldly setting all the stories just before the events of the film. For Cassian, this might be a surprise given the end of Andor, but the solicitations for the issues promise some intriguing new adventures for fan-favorite characters. Each issue comes with a stellar series of main covers by David Marquez, moody character portraits that fit the tone of the film. Out of the group of characters, I’m most excited for the Chirrut & Baze issue, and not just because it’s written by the sole marginalized creative attached to this, Stephanie Phillips, but also because these two haven’t gotten nearly enough love in publishing since the film’s release, though their lovely little novel Guardians of the Whills is one not to be missed. I wonder what this unexpected obstacle is on their path to fight back against the Empire! Next, I’m curious how the heck the Cassian issue will fit between the end of the show and the beginning of the movie, so good luck to the creatives on this one. Jyn’s should be a great reinforcement of her already strong character arc from Rebel Rising to the film, especially from a writer and fan like Ethan Sacks. Saw Gerrera’s sounds chilling, in all the right ways. And the Darth Vader one, well, I guess they didn’t feel confident enough about Director Krennic’s name being attached to a comic, but at least it sounds like it’ll feature them both. This series of one-shots will wrap up in September, right when Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss unleashes, the second novel in the political thriller trilogy covering the 20 year gap between Prequel Trilogy and Original Trilogy, which is set one year before the start of Andor. Talk about all the Rogue One adjacent love! Alright, here at the covers and the upcoming issues:
