With a LEGO set featuring the main ship from the upcoming Skeleton Crew show made its appearance in Target without any official reveal (prompting a pun I’m totally not sorry about) and Disney’s D23 convention coming up soon, it seemed like we were destined to finally see more about the Jude Law and kids-led show. People Magazine got the exclusive reveal, featuring the first official images and some new details, including the December 3 release date! Head below for more images and the new information!
Here’s the show’s blurb:
“When four kids make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, they get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, meeting unlikely allies and enemies will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”
Initially announced in 2022 at Celebration Anaheim, Skeleton Crew’s cast and directors were revealed at Celebration Europe 2023, alongside a convention-exclusive trailer (though readers can find it online, if you look hard enough), though Lucasfilm has been quiet on it since. The People Magazine interview/reveal not only chats with Jude Law, who praises the kids and the sets around them, but also Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, the creators, who tease tons of Easter Eggs for the long-time fans. We learn Ravi Cabot-Conyers will be Wim, Kyriana Kratter is KB, who looks to be a Miraluka given the visor she wears, Robert Timothy Smith is the alien which looks like an Ortolan named Neel, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong plays Fern, while Jude Law’s character, still shrouded in secrecy overall, is named Jod Na Nawood. Newly announced to the cast is Nick Frost, voicing the droid SM 33 (who you can see better in a leaked promo poster), whom comes with the ship Onyx Cinder, the one the kids discover which take them on their wild adventure. The pictures include a look at all the kids, speeders which they seem to use like kids in the 1980’s Amblin films did bicycles, the new droid, and plenty of Jude Law’s Jod. I suspect we’ll get a trailer soon, at D23 (which kicks off 8/9/2024) like I mentioned earlier, which might confirm some rumors regarding where the show takes place, as the blurb sort of suggests the kids and Jod might find themselves in other galaxy first visited in Ahsoka. With just over 4 months before it premieres, I suspect we’ll be learning a lot more about the show in due time. Check back to the Manor as the news comes in, otherwise be sure to return for our reviews once the show begins on Disney+ on December 3!
