April 2026 is all about the tie-ins, hey? And weirdly enough, none of them have to do with The Mandalorian and Grogu, the first Star Wars film since 2019, out in May. Well, there are variant covers referencing the film, at least? As for what there is to tie into, the prequel comic for Maul: Shadow Lord gets its second issue (days after the show premieres), Galaxy’s Edge‘s timeline change gets a new comic, and The Bad Batch‘s newest prequel comic slides a previous issue into this month. But have no fear, The High Republic is here as well! So head below to see April 2026’s Star Wars comics solicitations!
MARVEL
Shadow of Maul #2 (on sale 4/8)
Benjamin Percy (Writer), Madibek Musabekov (Artist)
Cover by Derrick Chow | Headshot Variant Cover by AKA | Variant Cover by Ken Lashley | Mandalorian & Grogu Variant by E.M. Gist | Photo Variant Also Available
THE UNDERWORLD EXPLODES WITH SCUM AND VILLAINY AS MAUL LOOMS IN THE SHADOWS!
- Ruthless mercenaries are looking to unload IMPERIAL treasure!
- Crime lord DEEMIS will stop at nothing to get it!
- Will CAPTAIN LAWSON be able to thwart the exchange of the smuggled fortune?
I’d been curious when this prequel comic released compared to the show and now we know thanks to the first, stunningly gorgeous teaser for Maul: Shadow Lord (which dropped the week of this publishing)! The show premieres April 6 with two episodes, so two days before the second entry in this comic comes out. The show will release two episodes a week, wrapping up on May 4 aka Star Wars Day! That means we’ll still have three issues left of the comic, taking us out to July for when this wraps. Curious if this will reveal some background for the show’s events that are best served after the series is done, hence why it’s releasing several issues after, or if that’s simply how things panned out.
Galaxy’s Edge: Echoes of the Empire #1 (on sale 4/22)
Ethan Sacks (Writer), Jethro Morales and Roi Mercado (Artists)
Cover by Phil Noto | Character Spotlight Variant by Leinil Francis Yu | Mandalorian & Grogu Variant by E.M. Gist
NEW SECRETS OF GALAXY’S EDGE REVEALED!
LUKE SKYWALKER, PRINCESS LEIA and CHEWBACCA head to BATUU in search of important intel and stumble upon a dangerous relic — one that puts them on a collision course with the EMPIRE! Galaxy’s Edge writer Ethan Sacks and artists Jethro Morales & Roi Mercado tell an all-new story inspired by Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Following the announcement that Disneyland’s (not Disney World) Galaxy’s Edge would convert into the original trilogy era to mix up the story a bit (and to help drive attendance and line up with the 50th Anniversary of A New Hope/Star Wars Celebration Los Angeles 2027), we also learned a comic would help tell the tale of how our heroes, and villains, ended up on Batuu. And who better to do that than the Galaxy’s Edge-verse writer himself, Ethan Sacks?! That’s right, having written Galaxy’s Edge, the initial comic that tied Batuu to some of the Saga’s most famous characters, and Halcyon Legacy, which immortalized the now defunct Galactic Starcruiser experience, who better indeed to write another Galaxy’s Edge tie-in?! I will be reviewing this one, but only as a miniseries when it’s all said and done. I didn’t review Halcyon Legacy simply because that was my plan for that series too but it slipped by me, yet now I am doing more miniseries reviews so I won’t let this one slip by!
DARK HORSE
Hyperspace Stories: The Bad Batch – Rogue Agents #3 (on sale 4/1)
Michael Moreci (Writer), Reese Hannigan (Artists)
Cover by Valeria Favoccia
The race is on to find the missing Separatist scientist and his doomsday device! But with their newfound adversary in the lead, the Bad Batch must turn to an old friend for help, finding themselves involved in an underworld shootout as a result! With friends like these, who needs enemies?
- The team that brought you the hit comics mini-series Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories: The Bad Batch—Ghost Agents returns with this thrilling follow-up series!
[ORIGINALLY SOLICITED FOR FEBRUARY AND IS NOW SCHEDULED FOR APRIL] Just like the first series, no review from me until this is all out (though if you want to cover the series, visit our Submissions page to reach out!). But Separatist scientists and doomsday devices? I’m ready for more Batch-ing fun. As I said before, it would be neat that if these two do well enough if they’ll eventually start covering some of the storylines originally pitched for the Bad Batch in The Clone Wars show, like their time on Kashyyyk?! The fact we’re getting a second series for them does make it seem like the odds are in their favor for more.
The High Republic Adventures – Pathfinders #2 (on sale 4/22)
George Mann (Writer), Partha Pratim/Jagdish Kumar (Artists)
Cover by Jake Bartok
On their way to investigate a mysterious comms disturbance, the Pathfinder team is caught in a hyperspace abnormality! As the abnormality and its monstrous inhabitants threaten to trap the Pathfinders forever, they send a desperate distress call into the galaxy… and the answer comes in the form of a fan-favorite High Republic character! Can the team escape before they are lost to the darkness between the stars?
- Return to the High Republic! Set 20 years after the end of Phase II, when Republic Pathfinders explored the furthest, and most dangerous, reaches of the galaxy!
- Six-issue series.
Would it be a High Republic story without some hyperspace abnormalities?! And this one has monsters trapped inside it?! Sign me the hell up!! I mean, anything High Republic is pretty much an instant sign me up these days, simply because I miss the era, but everything about Mann’s story sounds like it’s going to be a memorable way to show how “Phase More” can expand on the era and its characters. Let’s hope it doesn’t get hit with many, or any, delays!
