Star Wars Comics August 2025 Solicitations

August represents one of the last few months of summer weather here in the States, but for Star Wars comics it represents a sad finality as well: no more The High Republic related comics?! Since 2020, ahead of the era’s launch in January 2021, the solicitations have pretty much always had some High Republic title, but by August 2025…the current storytelling in the era is over. But fear not, there are plenty of good things from Dark Horse and Marvel still, like Kylo Ren facing an Order 66 survivor, Doctor Aphra and Han Solo forced to work together, Poe Dameron & BB-8 have to escape in style from the First Order, and much more, so head below for August 2025’s Star Wars comics solicitations!

MARVEL

Legacy of Vader #7 (on sale 8/6)

Charles Soule (Writer), Luke Ross (Artist)
Cover by Derrick Chew | Variant Cover by Karen S. Darboe | Variant Cover by Miguel Mercado | Revenge of the Sith 20th Anniversary Variant Cover by Chris Sprouse

KYLO REN TAKES ON A SURVIVOR OF ORDER 66!

  • On a distant, snow-covered planet, KYLO REN has met his match against former JEDI GRANDEA!
  • Witness flashbacks to the CLONE WARS ERA and GRANDEA’s daring use of the FORCE in the face of ultimate betrayal!
  • Will the survivor of the worst tragedy to befall the Jedi be able to change Kylo’s evil ways?

Seems like Tava Ren, the leader of the Knights of Ren in Kylo’s absence, might’ve been misidentified as the Order 66 survivor Kylo must face, as we now meet Grandea, the Order 66 survivor, in this solicitation. From appearances, Tava and Grandea look different, so it’s not that once Tava removes her helmet we’ll learn she’s Grandea, at least as I can tell. Sounds like Grandea has quite the story to tell in the past and present, between a supposed ‘daring’ usage of the Force and trying to help Kylo back to the light, and I’ll be most curious to learn if they knew of Luke Skywalker’s resurgent Order or not.

Jedi Knights #6 (on sale 8/13)

Marc Guggenheim (Writer), Madibek Musabekov (Artist)

A JEDI MASTER DEFEATED!

  • Jedi Master FONDAR ETZIS is dead!
  • Jedi Knights QUI-GON JINN, MACE WINDU and AAYLA SECURA are dispatched to retrieve the body…
  • …but who killed Etzis…and which Jedi Knight is the next to fall?

Sorry Fondar Etzis, gone before we could ever meet you! But because of their sacrifice, we get not only more Qui-Gon and Mace Windu, always a fascinating pair, but Aayla Secura as well!! Is Etzis’ death due to Corlis Rath and his vendetta against Qui-Gon or is this something else, an early Sith strike or the Jedi Master was put to no good and got what was coming to them? Interested to find out and hyped for Secura to feature in this wonderful series (which just had an excellent kaiju-starring issue!).

Star Wars #4 {2025} (on sale 8/20)

Alex Segura (Writer), Phil Noto (Artist)

LEIA ORGANA – IN THE CLUTCHES OF THE ZANTARRK STORMTROOPERS!

  • An assassin unmasked – and it’s not who you expect!
  • The Millennium Falcon – cornered!
  • And a message from the CLONE WARS ERA sends shock waves in the present!

With a few mysteries for Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Leia Organa to solve in the New Republic era, Star Wars #1 (2025) got off to a rather great start and it looks like things will only continue to get interesting! The Zantarrk are a group Beilert Valance warns Han about in the opening issue and I wonder how Leia managed to fall into their clutches, while a Clone Wars era message gives me various layers of hope my theory about Jedi Knights’ Atha Prime canonization becoming this comic’s big villain. There’s a variant cover with Luke holding up a strange object and I have to wonder if it’s the artifact he and Doctor Aphra chase after in her series! While there are less comics with The High Republic over and this sounds rather interesting, please remember I won’t be reviewing this series per issue, but rather each trade paperback, so by issue #6 in October I’ll be reviewing again. However, if you’re interested in covering the series, head over to our Submissions page and send me an email!

Doctor Aphra: Chaos Agent #3 (on sale 8/27)

Cherish Chen (Writer), Gabriel Guzman (Artist)
Cover by Ejikure | Variant Cover by Bengal | Variant Cover by David Lopez | Revenge of the Sith 20th Anniversary Variant Cover by Chris Sprouse

  • THE DOCTOR AND THE SMUGGLER MEET AGAIN!
  • The DAGGER agency teams up DOCTOR APHRA with the rebel hero and former smuggler HAN SOLO for a life-or-death mission!
  • A prized piece of art must be returned to a gangster from HAN’S past!
  • Can the doctor make it out in one piece?!

First Aphra’s dealing with Luke again and now Han Solo, someone who has a way less favorable opinion of the good doctor? While we might not be seeing names like Sana Starros and Magna Tolvan yet, someone like Han, especially as he deals with being a father and working for the new government, can be a big draw and should make for funny interactions. The identity of the gangster could be a neat reveal and learning more about this Dagger agency, and if they’ll be a bigger player in Aphra’s life going forward, has me eager for this series to start. Cherish Chen recently revealed the first preview pages from the opening issue of Chaos Agent and a few extra tidbits about the series, but fans should keep their eyes peeled to the Manor to maybe learn more in the coming weeks!

DARK HORSE

Hyperspace Stories – Codebreaker #3 (on sale 8/16)

Ethan Sacks (Writer), Marc Yarza (Artist)
Cover by Diego Galindo

The First Order searches high and low for Poe and BB-8 after the heroes’ daring escape! Can the pair make it off world without being captured?

Well, this issue was originally slated for July but it’s hitting in August now. However, the first issue of Codebreaker made it out and it’s a damn hoot, I look forward to seeing Sacks keep up the energy, and will have a review of the miniseries once it’s all out!
