August is when it’s the hottest before the fall for us in Wisconsin, so I’d have appreciated a few more comics to nestle inside with the A/C on, but Marvel only has three and Dark Horse at this point is skipping. 2026 really is shaping up to be the weirdest year for comics yet, but at least August sees our first non-tie-in release in a while from Marvel, with The Fall of Kylo Ren. Head below for August 2026’s Star Wars Comics Solicitations!
MARVEL
Rogue One – Baze & Chirrut #1 (on sale 8/5)

A STRIKE AGAINST THE EMPIRE…BUT AT WHAT COST?
- Baze Malbus and Chirrut Îmwe attempt a covert mission to sabotage a kyber mine that has been overtaken by Imperial forces.
- But when something unexpected stands between them and their objective, the mission becomes far more complicated than they expected.
- To succeed, faith will be tested and an impossible choice must be made!
Can always appreciate getting more of Baze Malbus and Chirrut Îmwe, especially after how well Guardians of the Whills gave them so much more depth than what was already hinted at in the films. I’m intrigued to see what unexpected thing stands in their way and what choice they have to make. In the mean time, get a glimpse at the artwork thanks to artist Kieron McKeown’s Instagram.
The Fall of Kylo Ren #1 (on sale 8/12)
Charles Soule (Writer), Will Sliney (Artist)
Cover by Phil Noto | Variant by Luke Ross | Variant Cover by Dave Dorman | Rogue One 10th Anniversary Variant Cover by Chris Sprouse
THE LEGACY OF VADER CREATES A NEW EMPIRE OF FEAR!
Kylo Ren returns from devastation, wielding total fury! As Generals Hux and Pryde tear the First Order apart with treacherous ambition, Kylo cuts through their schemes with merciless clarity. His wrath forges unity through fear and unleashes a Supreme Leader neither general can escape…nor survive disappointing. A pivotal turning point for Kylo, Hux, and Pryde and essential reading for every Star Wars fan.
Charles Soule gets to follow up on the Legacy of Vader finale promise of returning to Kylo Ren’s story with this new 5-issue miniseries, just announced earlier this week. If it’s anything like his The Rise of Kylo Ren, he’ll judiciously use the 5 issues to deliver something memorable, though maybe not in the way we’re all expecting. Should be quite the journey to wrap up the arc for Kylo leading into The Rise of Skywalker.
Galaxy’s Edge: Echoes of the Empire #5 (on sale 8/19)
Ethan Sacks (Writer), Jethro Morales and Roi Mercado (Artists)
Cover by Phil Noto | Luke Skywalker Variant Cover by Leinil Francis Yu | Variant Cover by Ken Lashley | Rogue One 10th Anniversary Variant Cover by Chris Sprouse
THE BIGGEST MYSTERY OF BATUU IS REVEALED!
- LUKE SKYWALKER and PRINCESS LEIA have returned to BATUU to complete a mission, but a heroic act will put them face-to-face with a creature not seen in a millennia!
- The secret of the mysterious relic is revealed in the process…and BLACK SPIRE OUTPOST will never be the same!
- No fans of STAR WARS and DISNEY PARKS will want to miss the climactic final issue!
Having checked out the opening issue, the framing story with Rey is a nice inclusion and I look forward to seeing where it goes, while the Boba Fett and Luke Skywalker showdown was a joy. I’ll for sure have a review sometime after this issue drops, but it’s got some promise already and the solicits makes it feel like there are a few more tricks up Ethan Sacks’ sleeves to make this a good story overall. I’d love it if it’s a Nameless or something they end up facing, but I can’t wait to see what creature Luke and Leia have to face…but really, can’t wait to see more of the siblings together!
DARK HORSE
As long as The High Republic Adventures – Pathfinders issues don’t slip from their July releases, nothing from Dark Horse in August.
