MARVEL
The Battle of Jakku – Insurgency Rising #4 (on sale 11/6)
Alex Segura (Writer), Jethro Morales & Leonard Kirk (Artist)
Cover by Phil Noto
Chaos reigns as the Defiant Imperial comes face-to-face with the heroes of the New Republic! Luke vs. a new Inquisitor! The Imperial survivors consolidate behind the Defiant Imperial—putting the just-formed New Republic at risk! Kes Dameron and his team try for a daring escape—but meet an unexpected hurdle! The Galactic Civil War takes a startling twist—and bad omens arise for the future of the New Republic!
This big maxiseries really sounds like a lot of fun, and this is only the end of its first of three 4-issue arcs! I’m still hedging my bets the new Inquisitor Luke faces is Tensu Run, from the Inquisitors comic miniseries, but regardless I’m eager to see him face an Inquisitor in general. Kes Dameron’s story might bring us into contact with someone Segura has helped flesh out a little bit, as teased in a revealed variant cover: Zeva Bliss! Segura wrote Poe Dameron: Free Fall and we got to meet not only Zorii Bliss, Poe’s friend on Kijimi as seen in The Rise of Skywalker, but also her mother, the deadly Zeva, and we even learned about another member of the Bliss family in his Return of the Jedi – The Rebellion issue. We’ll see even more of Kijimi, where the Bliss’ rule their Spice Runners from, in the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, out this August, so maybe we’ll see more of the group there too?

The Battle of Jakku – Republic Under Siege #3 (on sale 12/4) {Advanced Solicited}

A NEW REPUBLIC ON THE ROPES! LANDO and his allies defeated! MON MOTHMA faces a painful loss! LUKE SKYWALKER must defeat two of the galaxy’s deadliest killers to reach his friends! MOFF ADELHARD plays a final card against the New Republic – with shocking consequences!
I have to get this out of the way: if you look REAL closely at the subtitle for this second arc of The Battle of Jakku maxiseries, “Republic Under Siege,” you might just notice the covers have it spelt “Repuplic” at the moment. It turns out it’s being fixed, of course, but it was fun while it lasted!
Besides that…DOCTOR APHRA IS BACK!!! After the bum-inducing news about The Acolyte not being renewed for a second season, seeing Doctor Aphra again on a comic cover was an absolute jolt to the system! And to think she’ll be paired up with Luke Skywalker again, a dynamic which has always produced some fun stories/moments, especially since he’s grown to tolerate her more…can’t wait! Will he tell her about Vader’s death if she didn’t already know? Will we see Sana Starros and Magna Tolvan, her polycule partners, as well? I’ll just be glad to have more Aphra again, no matter what!
Considering Luke’s been absent most from the stories we’ve already got during the lead-up to Jakku, everything he’s going through in this maxiseries has sounded so fascinating! Who is this new friend…is it the Inquisitor he was facing? What’s this relic he’s after? Who are the Force zealots, the Acolytes of the Beyond, I presume given the announcement said we see more of them (and Luke’s dealings with them was hinted at in Shadow of the Sith)? Why is he battling a giant swamp rat?! And who are the galaxy’s deadliest killers he must face?!!?? Can’t wait to see all of this!
Also, I’m glad the advanced solicitation from the third issue of Republic (RePUPlic, sorry, can’t help myself) Under Siege, which doesn’t come out until December, finally stops calling Moff Adelhard “the defiant Imperial” since we already knew exactly who they were talking about already.
And my goodness…who or what does Mon Mothma lose?!
Ewoks #2 (on sale 11/13)
Steve Orlando (Writer), Laura Braga (Artist)
Cover by Pete Woods | Variant Cover by Dave Wachter | Action Figure Variant by John Tyler Christopher
THE BATTLE ON ENDOR CONTINUES!
- BOUNTY HUNTERS 4-LOM & ZUCKUSS invade Bright Tree Village!
- Will WICKET and EWOK WARRIOR MEEDRO be able to defend the village?
- And who is the Red Ghost?
While the rest of the galaxy is dealing with the events of The Battle of Jakku maxiseries, the little forest moon of Endor has its own problems…namely 4-LOM and Zuckuss!! Fans of their time in Bounty Hunters finally get a chance to enjoy this dynamically unique duo again, though I wonder how and why they’re all mixed up in this and going out of their way to mess with the Ewoks of Bright Tree Village! And yes please, who is this Red Ghost, I’m all for some fun Ewok-related lore!
Ahsoka #5 (on sale 11/6)

DARK HORSE
The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #2 (on sale 11/13)
Alyssa Wong (Writer), Valeria “Lux” Favoccia (Artist)
Cover by Jake Bartok
When an important Republic droid is captured by the ruthless Nihil commander called the Warden, Crash Ongwa sends Jedi Padawan turned freedom fighter Ruu to rescue it from the Warden’s clutches. Meanwhile, teenage Nihil member Driggit Parse is tasked with hacking the droid, but she just might have her own ideas about how to use it…
See how they all collide in award-winning author Alyssa Wong’s High Republic Adventures debut!
• Four issue series.
Not only will we have Aphra back in November, in the exact same month the previous series writer for the character will return to comics: Alyssa Wong! They’ll get the second issue of Dispatches, which sees Crash, a character modeled after them, Ruu, their original character, and even Driggit Parse, whom they helped write in Escape from Valo, on a collision course over a special droid. Sounds like an intriguing time, while I’ll be interested to see art from Valeria “Lux” Favoccia, who is at least new to me!
The High Republic Adventures #12 – Phase III (on sale 11/13)
Daniel José Older (Writer), Caìo Filipe (Artist)
Cover by Harvey & Kevin Tolibao | Variant Cover by Elizabeth Beals (pictured)
The Nihil are closing in on Valo and a mysterious pirate radio broadcaster known as the Scarlet Skull has called for help. Padawan Ram Jomaram and Jedi Knight Farzala Tarabal have bravely answered the distress call, but soon find themselves in over their heads. Will Ram, Farzala, and the Scarlet Skull mange to save Valo from the Nihil…again?
Speaking of Escape from Valo, here’s the “Return to Valo” storyline for The High Republic Adventures – Phase III, which will see Ram Jomaram return to help his planet once again, but this time alongside the new Scarlet Skull: Gavi! The variant cover by Beals also depicts Phase II characters like Drrn and Therm Scissorpunch, plus Zyle Keem, also first seen in Escape
The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #3 (on sale 11/13)
George Mann (Writer), Vincenzo Federici (Artist)
Cover by Eduardo Mello
Jedi Knight Reath Silas and Jedi Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo continue researching the Echo Stones. In doing so, they learn of the daring mission of a Republic Pathfinder team as they attempt to discover what happened to the famous Jedi Barnabas Vim, who went missing decades earlier, and whose fate appears inexorably tied to the mysterious Echo Stones.
{Advanced Solicited} First a Wayfinder (which I imagine is a Wayseeker in the pre-Phase II timeline Barnabas Vim’s story takes place) and now a Pathfinder mission in focus?? Echoes of Fear looks to be a greatest hits of the past but also connecting it to the present story, something Phase III is just starting to really get into.
The High Republic Adventures #13 – Phase III (on sale 12/11) {Advanced Solicited}
Daniel José Older (Writer), Caìo Filipe (Artist)
Cover by Harvey & Kevin Tolibao | Variant Cover Pictured
Padawan Ram Jomaram and Jedi Knight Farzala Tarabal have begun gathering brave fighters to repel the Nihil invasion of Valo. But uniting the war-weary people to defend their home is proving to be a battle all its own. Will the Jedi and their allies be able to inspire a resistance in the face of such destruction?
- Meanwhile, a shocking discovery on Eriadu inflames tensions!
The fight for Valo won’t be an easy one, it seems, but I’m sure it’ll be entertaining to us readers! I’m wondering what this discovery on Eriadu will end up being, if it’s some duplicitousness by a member of the Tarkin family or something the Nihil are up to that no one realized until now.
The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #4 (on sale 12/11) {Advanced Solicited}
George Mann (Writer), Vincenzo Federici (Artist)
Cover by Eduardo Mello
Jedi Knight Reath Silas and Jedi Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo embark on a desperate mission to recover the Rod of Ages—the last known fragment of an Echo Stone–in time to help contain the greatest threat that has ever faced the Jedi Order: the deadly Force eaters known as the Nameless.
- Series finale!
Very intrigued to see the Rod of Ages will finally come back into play and maybe even end up in Jedi hands, a huge help in the struggle against the Nihil’s powerful usage of the Force eating Nameless! It hasn’t really been mentioned since Path of Deceit, the Phase II opening novel, but I love how the lore for the Echo Stones, the Nameless, and more are all coming together as we head into the final 6-7 months of the initiative.
The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #3 (on sale 12/18) {Advanced Solicited}
Daniel José Older (Writer), Lucas Marangon (Artist)
Cover by Jake Bartok
Jedi Master and expert investigator Emerick Caphtor seeks the true nature of the Nameless! To help him solve the mystery of the “Force Eaters,” Emerick has brought on a Nihil prisoner-of-war with knowledge of the creatures. Together, the unlikely duo crosses the volcanic landscape of a distant moon in search of answers. Will the Jedi’s travelling companion prove to be a liability or an asset on this treacherous journey?
Emerick and Niv Drendow will star in this issue, but according to Older himself, maybe don’t judge the issue by its solicit, as he took to Twitter to reveal things have changed with the story since the blurb was originally written. Emerick and Niv Drendow will make for a unique pairing, either way, so it should be a memorable issue regardless!

An incredible moment, a queer wedding comic special event in Star Wars comics, and one fans have been hoping for over the last few years at that! We covered the news as it was announced a day before this publishing and you really should go check out the article to see all three exceptional covers for the issue! I love how Cherrielle, originally a fan artist of the series, not only has been making covers for the series already and is behind the main cover for The Wedding Spectacular, but she also created Zeen Mrala and Lula Talisola’s gowns!!! Given Older’s writing and the all-star artists behind the issue, we’re going to be in for a real big treat in December!
