2026 Black History Month Variant by Taurin Clarke Revealed

The cultural commemorative month covers for 2026 have begun and it all starts with Black History in February, as first revealed by Star Wars Splash Page! We’ll dig into some context below, but there are only two covers this year, yet it’s a lovely connecting variant featuring characters from The High Republic, video games, other comics, TV shows, and the films drawn by artist Taurin Clarke, whose variants have often been some of my most desired in the past, especially for Doctor Aphra! Marvel’s 2024 Black History Month Variant Covers Revealed!

After a few years of Pride Month covers, in 2023 Marvel added Black History Month and Women’s History Month variant covers for Star Wars comics as well, and it looks like 2024 will cement these as tradition! Ken Lashley takes the reins for 2024’s Black History Month Variants for five powerfully gorgeous covers, starring Mace Windu, Bell Zettifar, Captain Panaka, Kawlan Roken, and Adi Gallia. It’s a great line-up and I really do like these covers, but only have Adi Gallia to liven up the gender representation, especially after last year was a little more diverse, is disappointing. Comic News: Black History Month Covers, Darth Vader: Black, White & Red Announced

After two years of special Pride Month covers, Marvel is expanding its selection of celebratory covers and now has ones coming up for Black History Month (and even Women’s History Month later)! Artist Mateus Manhanini goes hard on the incredible covers, which you can glimpse below the cut alongside which comic issue they’ll be releasing with, 10 total to enjoy and collect. Elsewhere, Marvel just can’t let Darth Vader die so they’ve announced a new miniseries with the Black, White & Red moniker, based off a series they do for Marvel comics proper, set to launch this April with the return of Jason Aaron, first interior art by Peach Momoko (!!), and more.
