After nearly a year of waiting and teases, Project Luminous has finally been revealed: The High Republic publishing program, a series of stories set 200 years before the prequels, spread across novels and comics, spearheaded by authors Charles Soule, Claudia Gray, Daniel José Older, Justina Ireland, and Cavan Scott. Beginning in August, the High Republic era kicks off with Light of the Jedi, a novel by Charles Soule which will set up the story and proliferate across other novel, comics, and more yet to come. Project Luminous Reveal Coming February 24
Luminous, the mysterious upcoming publishing project, has been teased by Lucasfilm since Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019 in April, with nary a detail since. We were originally promised it would be revealed in January 2020, but several reporters and journalists have been invited to a reveal event for Project Luminous on February 24, 2020. The vague “January” promise always felt like it wouldn’t happen, so it’s no surprise it would happen another month, and regardless it’s really nice to have a set and solid date. Canon Comic Miniseries Review: Return to Vader’s Castle
After the frights of last year’s Tales from Vader’s Castle brought the Halloween spirit to Star Wars comics in a gleefully ghoulish way, IDW brought the series, and writer Cavan Scott, back for another round of spooky tales: Return to Vader’s Castle! In some ways stronger and more defined than last year’s outing, Return to Vader’s Castle is an excellent continuation and usage of the fun-loving scares all-ages truly can enjoy. Star Wars Comics January 2020 Solicitations
January is a time for new beginnings and all those important resolutions we love to make, like watching more Star Wars…but on a treadmill. It’s also a time of uncertainty for what’s ahead, as we don’t quite know what’s next for the Star Wars Saga after The Rise of Skywalker brings the Skywalker part of it to an end (and if the epic trailer from Monday is anything to go by, it’s going be a brave new galaxy), but we at least get our first glimpses of Marvel’s relaunching efforts in 2020 and beyond with today’s solicitations.
