Star Wars Comics October 2018 Solicitations

At first glance, October’s comics might look a little slim, but that’s only because Marvel is having one of it’s quietest months since launching. But IDW is here to pick up the slack, and with one helluva offering: a horror-anthology called Tales from Vader’s Castle. So head below to see why I about jumped out of my skin when I saw Aphra‘s latest cover, a cool connection Charles Soule is making between two of his series, and what spooks are ahead from Vader’s Castle! Star Wars Comics September 2018 Solicitations

Star Wars Comics September 2018 Solicitations

September’s solicitations for Star Wars comics are in and while it sure seems to be an exciting month, from Vader visiting the place of his birth, Aphra finding herself in the crosshairs of multiple old foes, to plenty of “Hope” dying for the heroes of the Rebellion as the Empire starts to strike back, it’s also a sad month for the comics. Two miniseries, the new Lando and The Last Jedi adaptation, come to an end, but the biggest blow is Poe Dameron‘s adventures coming to a close for good. Head on below for a glimpse at what’s ahead and help you mourn the loss of Poe. Continue reading “Star Wars Comics September 2018 Solicitations”

Canon Comic Review: Star Wars Adventures Annual 2018

Star Wars Adventures Annual 2018

IDW’s Star Wars Adventures, which launched in September of last year, as been steadily bringing readers great little stories with familiar characters big and small across the saga for quite some time. It’s Annual 2018 issue isn’t much different, though it has two great scribes in John Jackson Miller (welcome back to Star Wars comics, sir!) and Cavan Scott, and is the much awaited (or dreaded, depending on who you ask) return of the Marvel’s giant green bunny character, Jaxxon. Novel Review: From a Certain Point of View – Star Wars

Star Wars From a Certain Point of View

Minor Spoiler Review –

There have been short story collections in the Star Wars universe before, but nothing quite like this! From a Certain Point of View gathers together 43 authors for 40 stories giving us new perspectives on Episode IV: A New Hope, as a celebration of the film’s 40th Anniversary (bonus: all the author proceeds go to the charity First Book!). In short, the stories within had me crying, laughing, and filled me up with joyous wonder, much like A New Hope did and continues to do 40 years later, which is a pretty fitting way to celebrate the 40th anniversary, if you ask me! Canon Comic Review: IDW’s Star Wars Adventures Vol 1: Heroes of the Galaxy (Issues #1-2)

Star Wars Adventures Vol1 Heroes of the Galaxy

At April’s Celebration Orlando this year, IDW announced they’d be bringing all-ages Star Wars comics to the market place and now we have Star Wars Adventures! The series is as canon as Marvel’s comics are and set to contain, you guessed it, adventures across time and space of the Star Wars galaxy. Volume 1: Heroes of the Galaxy is made up of a two-part main tale about Rey during her days on Jakku and some “Tales from Wild Space” featuring Obi-Wan and Evaan Veraline, and already it’s clear SW Adventures is a product anyone can find joy in. A Certain Point of View Celebrates 40 Years of Star Wars: A New Hope

Star Wars From a Certain Point of ViewThursday evening, Del Rey (at their @DelReyStarWars account) stirred up Star Wars fandom on Twitter by teasing the announcement of something called Operation Blue Milk. Whether or not this is your cup of caf, you should probably pick this up because not only is the talent involved nothing short of spectacular, all author proceeds are being donated to charity (!!) so read on for the list and more details! The Adventures in Wild Space books, by Cavan Scott, are a series of children’s novels produced, somewhat inexplicably, only for international audiences. The series, set in the Dark Times (between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope), focuses on Milo and Lina Graf, the two young children of galactic cartographers exploring Wild Space and the Unknown Regions. On an adventure to a new world, the children find their parents have been taken by the Empire and mount a rescue mission to get them back.
