Despite understandable civil unrest and a still out of control pandemic, all types of businesses and entertainment are trying to return to some sense of normalcy. Updated Star Wars Comics June/July 2020 Solicitations
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world in many different and unpredictable ways, and the entertainment industry has been in flux ever since. Comics stopped shipping for the most part in early April after Diamond Comics stopped distribution, but they have since begun shipping once again, with new comics hitting open comic shops for the first time on May 20. The upcoming schedule of comics has drastically changed, so the previously promised Star Wars comics have shifted in a big way. Marvel and IDW have begun to reveal their updated schedules (via Florian of Jedi-Bibliothek), so we’ve included the new list for the issues out in June and July 2020 below! The prequels were full of villains, many easy to see from a parsec away, but one who could hide in plain sight, and look quite dashing while doing so (even in pjs), was none other than the luxurious Count Dooku! While a key component in Darth Sidious’ plans, Dooku wasn’t always a dashing looking Sith and Separatist leader, he was once even a Jedi! Comic News: Doctor Aphra Vol. 2 Details Revealed, The Clone Wars Comic from IDW Announced
Over at the official site, ahead of April 2020 Star Wars comics’ solicitations, Dan Brooks interviewed the scribe of the upcoming relaunch of Doctor Aphra, Alyssa Wong, revealing new details like a heavy Indiana Jones-esque plot and a whole host of new and intriguing characters. And at THR, IDW announced a 5-issue anthology miniseries, Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars – Battle Tales, where clones share war stories (UPDATE: Check out our interview with the series’ writer, Michael Moreci). UPDATE: Due to the growing pandemic, comic distributor Diamond Comics has halted shipping starting in April. Marvel won’t be releasing issues digitally and IDW certainly won’t unless it’s on a store shelf, so it’s very much up in the air when these comics will end up seeing the light of day. It’s an unfortunate, but understandable move. Battle Tales has a new tentative release for June, but no word on what Marvel is thinking for Aphra’s relaunch. I’ll update as soon as we learn! Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Unveiled on May the 4th!
Celebrating 2019’s Star Wars Day in style, Lucasfilm announced the Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker publishing program, teased a few weeks ago at Celebration Chicago 2019! A lot of the canon novel/comic material covers stories set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, with Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Leia, and Chewie central to the tales as they attempt to rebuild the Resistance.
