NYCC High Republic Phase 2 News Covers

With The High Republic’s Phase II beginning just this week with the release of Path of Deceit, the opening YA novel by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland (and our reviews you can read here!), the New York Comic Con panel easily could’ve been simply covers for some of the remaining Phase II content and fans (me!) would’ve been happy. But thankfully they love to bring more than that, as while plenty of covers were revealed for upcoming Phase II releases, we learned about some new content as well, like an intriguing YA Anthology which will span all THREE Phases of the era. Learn all about the newest reveals for The High Republic below! Continue reading “NYCC ’22: New The High Republic Phase 2 Covers, Titles Announced!”

The High Republic Show: Phase II Path of Deceit Cover, New Authors Chat, and More!

It’s been just over two months since the last The High Republic Show and a little over a month since Phase I wrapped up its story, so it’s been quiet in the era of The High Republic for fans (unless those rumors of a live-action TV show are true…), but even this newest batch of details and interviews is enough to breathe life back into the discussion ahead of Star Wars Celebration and likely a lot of news there. In the latest show, host Krystina Arielle sums up the finale to Phase I, talks with the new authors joining the project, interviews with some creatives about the finale, and some scant and surprising details about Phase II! The High Republic Show: Phase II Novels, Comics, Art Book Announced, And More!

With the first Phase of The High Republic nearly at an end, the final comic issues dropping March, the latest The High Republic Show was focused more on how we got here, Krystina Arielle’s cool new digs and fan-made costume, and discussing much of what’s transpired since The Fallen Star‘s release in January, plus a suggestion on which piece to read to finish Phase I, Wave III. There were some reveals for Phase II: Quest of the Jedi, like who’s writing what, from Zoraida Córdova kicking off the new story with the adult novel and Claudia Gray behind a comic book, as well as a much requested and really exciting Art of The High Republic book, but it was focused mainly on the journey so far and teases of the future (5 or so years total in story) and I think it was well-deserved considering how fandom has accepted the initiative since its launch, though it also mentioned something fandom has been rallying against for sometime. Head on for the lowdown! Continue reading “The High Republic Show: Phase II Novels, Comics, Art Book Announced, And More!”

You wouldn’t quite know it, but with Star Wars Adventures #14 (Vol. 2), IDW closes out their mainline series and is their penultimate contribution before Dark Horse takes over the license later in the year. The main story focused on Rey wraps up nicely while Justina Ireland’s The High Republic back-up tale is a stellar showing for writer and artist both. Canon Novel Review: The High Republic – Mission to Disaster

High Republic Mission to Disaster Review Mynock Manor 1

Spoiler Free Review –

The High Republic’s first Phase is coming to a close and Mission to Disaster, written by Justina Ireland, is one of the opening novels of the final wave. Focusing on characters Ireland first introduced in the opening wave, the novel deals with Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh trying to save Avon Starros, and other children, when it becomes clear the Nihil have started kidnapping kids to bolster their ranks. Mission to Disaster, never shying away from the ramifications and its deeper subject matters, while adding to fan-favorite characters and building out a convincing ecosystem,  is one of Ireland’s best entries of the era so far.
